Problem with hair loss and thrush

Posted By Jojosmom (Raleigh, North Carolina) on 11/16/2012

Hi Ted. First of all. Let me say that I love your site. There is so much info to read. The world is a better place because of people like you! I have been having itchy, tingling dry flaky scalp for years, with massive hair falling out. It was coming out by the handful, every time I washed it. The ends are split and there are tiny knots in the strands. It used to be super thick, so much that people would ask me if I had on a wig. Now I can see my scalp in the front, the sides and the top. I tried the borax, Apple Cider Vinegar and peroxide wash, but my scalp is still itching. I also have thrush on my tongue and I was finally diagnoses with Tinea Versicolor. I have noticed, lately that I itch terribly after eating processed sugar, but now when I eat regular fruits. I was given a selenium sulfide shampoo, that has done nothing. I am pretty sure, at this point, that I have candida. My fingernails are splitting down the seam on one finger and the rest of my nails are separating from the nail bed. What do I need to do to address my problems? Thanks so much.

Hi Jojosmom, I'm not Ted but I thought I could give you some thoughts on your condition. First of all, did you see this response from Ted regarding Tinea Versicolor? It may help you.

As for the thrush and itching after eating sugar and fruit- these are candida indications. Remember, fruit breaks down immediately into fructose which is sugar. Here is where you can find the candida tests:

The first thing you are going to want to do is evaluate your diet. You must cut out all sugar and white flour products. If you still crave sugar, you can use stevia as a substitute which is perfectly safe. Donna Gates who is one of the leading authorities on this subject uses it in her protocol to address candida. It is actually an herb and not a sugar so does not feed the candida. You can also google Body Ecology Diet and find a very informative site which also offers lots of free, healthy recipes to support gut health. You can also start adding in fermented foods after you do some clean up work on your diet which will help to replace the good bacteria the body needs to maintain health.

Also, this is where you will learn an extensive amount of information on eradicating this nasty condition:

I hope this info can help you get started. Lisa

Thank you, Lisa. I don't itch when eating fruit, at all. It is when I am eating processed sugar or food. At any rate, I will let fruit go for a while, along with other processed carbs and see how it goes.
