I spoke to my doctor about hydrogen peroxide. He is actually quite open to these things because he uses a neti pot himself. He said a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide in a neti pot might be okay to use. He said peroxide will generally burn/sting the nasal tissues so proceed slowly! In 1904, Charles Marchand publishes the last of a series of 18 books on hydrogen peroxide as a treatment for typhoid fever, gastric ulcers, bronchitis and tuberculosis and more other disease. This is the most in depth study I’ve ever read.

From the book - The Therapeutical Applications of Peroxide of Hydrogen, Hydrozone and Glycozone, by Charles Marchand 9th Ed 1895

GENERAL DIRECTIONS FOR APPLYING

PEROXIDE OF HYDROGEN (MEDICINAL), H2O2, IN THE TREATMENT OF DISEASES CAUSED BY GERMS.

NOSE. —THROAT AND CHEST DISEASES. -TREATMENT.

CATARRH OF THE NOSE AND CATARRH OF THE THROAT.

Causes: Micro- organisms, principally of the micrococcus species have been detected by microscopical examinations, by scientific men and by myself, in the mucous discharges from the nostrils of persons afflicted with this disease. Those germs which are the cause of the infection are readily destroyed by Peroxide of Hydrogen (medicinal), and there is no danger for the patient to use these remedies in any quantity, as both are positively harmless.

Treatment: By means of an atomizer, made of glass and hard rubber, spray the nose and the throat copiously and repeatedly twice or three times every day with a mixture of:

1 tablespoonful Peroxide of Hydrogen, (medicinal), with 4 to 10 tablespoonfuls of distilled water (cold or lukewarm).

According to the degree of inflammation in the mucous membranes of the nasal cavities ; and, in case of extreme sensitiveness, use even still a larger proportion of water.

NOTE—In the absence of an atomizer, apply the remedy to the nose by sniffing the liquid from the hand through the nostrils repeatedly, and gargle the throat. It is always beneficial to swallow the remedy. Do not blow the nose too hard, as it might cause a temporary bleeding. In chronic cases of long standing, especially at the beginning of the treatment, when the tenderness of the mucous membrane is excessive, it often happens that the patient will feel, during one hour or so after each application of the remedy, a partial obstruction of either one or the other of the nostrils.

This very unpleasant feeling is often accompanied by frequent sneezing, which is due to the tickling sensation produced in the nasal cavities by the presence of a great quantity of minute bubbles of "O2, " being set free from the decomposition of Peroxide of Hydrogen coming in contact with the infected surface. The unhealthy secretions are destroyed by "O2" and the cleansing of the nostrils is made perfect.

In chronic cases, when the middle ear is affected, deafness is often the consequence of this disease. Then ozonized vapor inhalations should follow immediately the spraying of the nose and the throat, and should be administered by means of Hand Atomizer and Ozonizer, with a mixture thoroughly made of:

half Peroxide of Hydrogen (medicinal) and half chemically pure glycerine.

Renew the mixture every three days. It is important that the above mixtures should be made perfect by shaking the bottle well, otherwise the spray-tube of the apparatus might be clogged on account of the syrupy nature of the glycerine

A permanent cure may be effected in a very short time.

When chronic Catarrh of the Nose is very tenacious and painful, it is necessary at night, before retiring, to apply a few drops to the nostrils. Sniff it hard, as it will accelerate the cure.

In many cases the incurability of Chronic Catarrh of the Nose is due to partial or complete obstruction of the nasal cavities, caused by some abnormal conditions of growth, differing in their nature.

When such is the case, apply Peroxide of Hydrogen, as heretofore explained, morning and evening. After ten or fifteen days, if the excrescence does not disappear, it will be necessary to have a surgical operation performed for its removal.

After the excrescence has been removed or destroyed by means of the thermo-cautery, or any other operation (no caustic should be used, as it will most likely destroy both taste and smell), an absolute cure is certain if the above treatment is earnestly followed.

The profession well know that the therapeutical agents used for the treatment of this disease have been as follows: Bichloride of Mercury. -Calomel. —Sulphate of Zinc. -Sulphate of Copper.-Alum. -Nitrate of Silver. -Carbolic Acid. -Salicylic Acid. -Permanganate of Potash . -Borax. -Boracic Acid. —Subnitrate of Bismuth. -Common Salt. Muriate of Ammonia. -Extract of Eucalyptus. -Thymol. -Cocaine. -Camphor, etc.

It is easy to understand why Peroxide of Hydrogen (medicinal), will surely accomplish a permanent cure.

I've had a sinus infection which started from covid in early Nov. I started using Hydrogen Peroxide nasal rinse with 8oz distilled water, 2 tablespoons of food grade peroxide, neil med saline pouch, and a drop of baby shampoo. I did neil med bottle 3 times each of the 2 days.

My nose feels better, but im still a bit stuffy, especially at night with a white cloudy frothy mucus with the odd (5) small red spots of blood. Not sure if this is the virus that has been sticking around or is it from the peroxide?? I'm also wondering what adjustments I need to make to get rid of it

Oh my god! I had covid 2.5 months ago and I was in hospital 3 times the first 3 weeks...i was coughing and phlegmy and stuffed up and I had 2 courses of antibiotics when no help at all. I have been dealing with difficulty getting full breathes and the stuffy post nasal drip was making me cough like crazy. I have been so miserable and almost depressed. First off, I heard about hydrogen peroxide in the ears and at this point I had tried every natural remedy I could buy. must have spent close to $500 on vitamins and remedies at natures fair market. I put the drops in last night and I was 90%..it was within minutes, maybe 5 min in each ear. Then I read these posts and I did a nasal rinse and gargle and I felt clear and the best I felt in a long time...amazing! I did a rinse solution of TBSP of Hyrogen Peroxide, 8oz of distilled water, neilmed saline pouch x1, and a drop of baby shampoo. I'm going to do this 2-3 times a day. I will also do a gargle 2x and ears 2x...I hope I only have to do it for 2-3 days. My only thing now is getting inflammation down cause in my nostrils still look small and constricted..question: Will this solution help inflammation over time or should I be adding something else to help with that?

For those of you not getting results with hydrogen peroxide. Remember, it is good for only about 6 months after you open the bottle.

So get yourself a new bottle. When you open it, write the date on the label so you know when it becomes unusable.

A sealed bottle is good for about 3 years if you keep it in a cool environment. But once you unseal it, you only have 5-6 months before it degrades and becomes ineffective. Also, don't dip anything like a q-tip or finger in the bottle. That makes it degrade faster.

If it doesn't fizz, it's likely degraded. I learned this the hard way with a sinus infection that wouldn't go away. My bottle had been open about a year. As soon as I got a new one, things changed and it started working.

Check Google for more information about the lifespan of hydrogen peroxide. Hope you are able to resolve your health issue whatever it is.

We have a friend who went into the doctors recently and passed away. She went in for an infection in the jaw, was diagnosed with COVID, and put on COVID protocols. She probably passed away due to COVID protocols.

This home remedy works. I use a 3 step process with 8oz distilled water, 1/2 tsp 3% Hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 tbs salt good for saline.

1) Drops in ears, lay down and keep dropping till you can fill your ear best as possible around 10min,

2) lay down and lay head back and with dropper fill sinus area under eyes with 2.5 mL and hold for 10s or as long as possible,

3) Neti pot but stop after initial stream out other nostril holding head to side gently roll head and also try a slow spin to get solution around perimeter of cavity then blow out. Stay strong and god bless.

I caught a sinus infection (stuffy nose was the only symptom) when my husband was in the hospital and so I couldn't visit him. A family friend reminded me of H2o2 that he's been taking for years so I used the recommended dose in the book "the One minute C--e" by Madison Cavanaugh:

Take 35% food-grade H2o2 and dilute it to 3% (one oz of food-grade 35% H2o2 + 11 oz of distilled water = 3% of Food Grade H2o2). Then put the 3% in a spray bottle. Spray into your nose and mouth every 2 hours and when spraying into the mouth breathe in deeply.

My sinus infection and all related symptoms were gone in 48 hours.

I agree.............I have silent gerd which causes me sinus and lung infections..........sometimes aspirated pneumonia. I always have to get back on prednisone to clear my lungs until Dec of 2021 when I started nebulizing 3% diluted to 1% food grade HP in my nebulizer. It has helped me tremendously and very thankful I finally got up enough nerve to use it. I use it about 5 times a day......take about 5 or 6 deep breaths each time. Works wonders especially on my lung congestion. Still have traces of sinus infection but working on it.

It seems I might have written this already, but it's worth mentioning again: for any lung and/or sinus issues, we have seen enormous success with this simple h2o2 breathing technique: about 4-5 times a day, spritz two-three second's worth of h2o2 (plain drug store kind) in a mug of boiling water and just breathe the vapors. No need for towel or any fancy stuff. Within a week one will be hacking up and/or blowing out through the nose, all kinds of nasties (which almost scared someone into stopping, but thankfully they persevered) and within a month or maybe a month and a half, no more snoring, no filling up endless tissues, more energy (maybe from more oxygen getting to where it should) etc. Later, maintenence dose would probably be once a day.

I sprayed 3 sprays of about 1.5% FGHP into my mouth and inhaled it. That was about 20 min ago. I feel kind of woozy and pressure in the left side of my head, and some heaviness throughout my body, and my left eye was watering, but not much in my nose and mouth except a bit of fizzing in my mouth. Bit of heaviness in my lungs from the bubbles (had that before and not concerned), and my digestive system is starting to bubble, which it did the other night - that leads

I'm concerned about the pressure. It won't fizz inside your brain will it?

I have had a concussion, and sometimes get acephalgic migraines on the left side, and I have a chronic sinus infection.

So, is it just from the sinus infection?

Thanks!

Rachel

I leave it in for at least 10 mins each ear, pretty much until it stops fizzing. I use 50/50 6% HP and warm water in a small dish, dip a cotton ball or pad in it, lie down my side and drip the liquid into my ear(s), have a towel and paper towels handy. Watch Earth Clinic videos on Youtube while lying down to pass the time . ;)

My hubs had a constant severe sinus infection for 3 months. He had a very bad headache. He went to 3 different doctors and 2 runs of antbx. with only 1-2 days of relief. Also a chiropractor, without results. Used flonase, and claritan daily, took 3 tumeric and fishmox daily. No relief. We began to wonder if he had a tumor.

He was desperate, so he tried 4 parts distilled water to 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide, flushed sinus with neti pot and then let it bubble in nose for 5-10 minutes, (burns a little). Suddenly a profuse amount of mucous began to bubble out, flushed several times, and let it set afterwards each time, at which each time large amounts of thick mucous bubbled out of his sinus. All through the day, it would continue to pour profuse amounts of thick mucous.

This was finally the answer, Praise God some relief.

I am highly allergic to cedar and elm pollen and living in Houston, does me no favors! For the past three weeks, the two pollen's have wreaked havoc on my sinuses, which in turn, turned into a nasty sinus infection. I have been getting chills on and off, waking up every morning about 12:30 blowing my nose and hacking. I could smell and taste infection and was hacking up and blowing thick green stuff. I wouldn't be able to fall back to sleep until about 4ish. I have to get up at 5:30 for work. I have been feeling sick, tired and cranky. All of these years that I thought that it was my lungs giving me problems, but I think it has been chronic sinus infections! I don't have insurance, so going to the doctor to get antibiotics is out of the question as I am on a super tight budget.

I decided to come here and saw the Hydrogen peroxide cure and decided to take a shot in the dark.

I have a plastic neti pot. I know that table salt is a no-no, but it's what I had available, so that is what I used.

I used 1/4 teaspoon of salt and two teaspoons of hydrogen Peroxide in warm distilled water and cleaned out each nostril.

I did that when I got home from work and did it again before I went to bed. I also did it this morning before work.

The "sick infected" feeling that I had along with the chills; GONE! I slept all night! I could taste my food again and could smell again which told me that my husband had lied to me about smoking in the house, because I smelled it! He got an earful! LOL!

I will do this again when I get home from work. I am in awe of this inexpensive and highly effective treatment! For about $1.00, I am almost 100%, where a visit to the doctor along with scripts, would have cost me about $400 or more.

Hydrogen peroxide should be diluted at least 10-20 times its normal (3%) strength. A 4:1 dilution as stated here will burn your nasal mucosa severely and delay healing from the sinus infection. There is no good medical evidence for its use in the nasal sinuses. I am a doctor who has tried hydrogen peroxide and suffered mucosal damage with a 4:1 dilution with water.

You know, all of these comments sound sort of complicated.

Here's what I do: dip a couple of cotton swabs in h2o2. Insert the swabs into the nostrils...one nostril at a time (I do both at the same time.) Ease the swabs back until only an inch is sticking out...and leave them for a minute or so. (Often it makes me sneeze.)

After you remove the swabs give your nose a good blow. Voila! I do this two or three times a day if I'm sick. It's definitely great before bed if you're congested. And it keeps a sinus infection from grabbing hold.

I get sinus infections at least twice a year. I think it is tied to my allergies and after a long lapse of sleep. Not to be gross but when I know I have an infection I go ballz-to-the-wall with the H-Peroxide mix with the neti pot. It works. 1/4 of the mix is H-Peroxide. Hurts a bit but gets results. Nothing like seeing yourself blowing out an infection in the sink! Sometimes there is a little blood mixed in with the green mucous but I think that's normal when the infection is pretty bad.

Thanks!

I leave it in for at least 10 mins each ear, pretty much until it stops fizzing. I use 50/50 6% HP and warm water in a small dish, dip a cotton ball or pad in it, lie down my side and drip the liquid into my ear(s), have a towel and paper towels handy. Watch Earth Clinic videos on Youtube while lying down to pass the time . ;)

Slept on that side all night with. No problems. Hardly any tenderness in face. Plan on doing this concoction for the next few days, few times a day. Eureka! Magic cure.

The first recorded use of peroxide in this country (USA) was by a Georgia doctor. In 1888, Dr. P. Lcortelyou of Marietta, Georgia, reported on the use of peroxide in treatment of diseases of the nose and throat. In one case of diphtheria (A serious infection of the nose and throat caused by strains of bacteria called Corynebacterium), often fatal in those days, he used a nasal spray of peroxide, and the patient was well in one day.

He said 110% do NOT swallow it since, according to him, "it's basically bleach." I took his advice to mean to be careful even not to swallow any that might trickle down the back of your throat after using a neti pot.

Watch Earth Clinic videos on Youtube while lying down to pass the time . ;)

I had a terrible sinus infection in the left side of my face. No mucus but pain up into my nose, down into my jawbone, teeth and neck. Couldn’t sleep on that side or the pain would flare up for hours. I use hydrogen peroxide for a lot so I put it in water in the neti pot tonight ( couple of tablespoons?) Pain gone. Slept on that side all night with. No problems. Hardly any tenderness in face. Plan on doing this concoction for the next few days, few times a day. Eureka! Magic cure. Put some down in ears on qtip after reading this... mucus I didn’t even know I had back of throat loosened up ( allergies).

I heard that adding some salt to this hydrogen peroxide solution for sinus infections relieves the stinging. And it does.

So today is my fifth day, I have felt no relief from congestion, and today when I blew my nose (before using the neti pot), I saw blood. I am using the neti pot, the included solution, and one teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide, three times a day. should I stop or am I on the right track?

I just did the hydrogen peroxide for sinus infections remedy -- it stings like hell. However, it did relieve my congestion. It remains to be seen whether it killed the infection. I'll do it 3-4 times daily over the next several days.

Hi- just wanted to comment about a sinus infection I had for over a year and had tried everything...literally. I put a few drops of 35% food grade HP & distilled water in one of those humidifiers that make the mist, and would breathe in through nasal and mouth- and within 3 days I was finally cured after suffering for a year.

After reading posts about peroxide for sinus infections, I decided to give peroxide a try. After putting a couple of drops of 3% in each nostril I felt immediate relief from the throbbing pain in my face. The peroxide though had a burning sensation for about a few seconds it nevertheless did the job.

Try putting 1/2 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide in a neti pot of warm filtered water with some sea salt (try a small amount if your irritated) and melted coconut oil (maybe 1/2 ts not finding the amount to add anywhere). All three are excellent at killing the virus effectively!

I developed a sinus infection after battling pneumonia and the flu for a month. It started, of course, on a weekend. My face could barely be touched and my teeth ached so badly--- down to the jawbone. I was using hydrogen peroxide to rinse my mouth and throat and wondered if I could use it in a Neti pot. Thank you Earth Clinic for the confirmation of how to use it! I have used 3% hydrogen peroxide and distilled water, 1/2 and 1/2 in the Neti pot three times today. (10am-1pm-4pm.). Second and third time got better each time, face quit hurting, tmj joint pain almost gone and teeth feel like the fever they had in them is dissipating. Got a ways to go, it was bad! I'm on my way--thank you again!
