My wife read about the Apple Cure for Reflux. I gave it a try. Its now 1 week since taking a Purple Pill and substituting it with a Green Apple in the evening. At this stage I would normally expect to be in agony. Good news, total relief. So, I am now baffled, I have been taking the PP for 7 years and warned of the long term oncsequences if I stopped. But if after 1 week I feel this good, then I am pushing on! Ill keep you posted....

After suffering from symptoms of "Acid Reflux Disease" for about three and 1/2 years and feeling very frustrated with (expensive)pharmceutical treatments and not getting any results, I decided to try both apple slices and apple juice before going to bed or when symptoms appeared (not at the same time). The results, I am THRILLED to say were IMMEDIATE!!! I tried them the same night that I read the testimonials from others on this site and I slept the best I have in those 3 1/2 years! No more sleeping sitting up or on my left side only. I had sloppy joes this afternoon, felt the symptoms coming back, ate apple slices (red delicious) and the symptoms went away. I am still trying to figure out what all of my trigger foods are. THANK YOU for this site and the information!

This last week I started having this acid reflux happen to me really bad. I went online and saw that apple cider vinegar and some type of apples were mentioned to help it. So, I bought some medicine at the store, but I haven't taken them. The apple cider vinegar and eating apples seem to work. It hasn't been bothering me much now and when it does, I eat an apple or drink apple cider or a shot glass full of straight apple vinegar. That's a bit of a "face-twister", but just drink some water after it and it's not too bad. Seems to work. I haven't opened the meds yet.

I have suffered heartburn for the last week really bad and off and on throughout my life. While researching home remedies I came across your site on the issue.

I am so glad I did...I was not brave enough to drink the apple cider vinegar, but I had apples. So I ate a whole red delicious apples and had a full glass of water with it. Within a half hour I had great relief and I can say that after a few hours now the reflux is gone.

I am going to eat an apple after every meal and see how it goes. I am so happy and I can't thank you enough for this information as I have been so miserable. I tried baking soda, basil tea, sucking on peppermint...and nothing compared to the Apple.

I guess an Apple a day does keep the doc away.LOL I am really amazed!!!

Thanks again, Jenny in Tucson, Arizona

My 81 yr old husband has suffered Acid Reflux for probably 50 years. He has used over the counter antacid tablets like candy for years and years, and for the last 3 years his doctor has also had him on Omeprazole 1/2 hour before breakfast & dinner, Famotidine 2/day WITH breakfast and dinner, AND Metoclopramide at bedtime if the reflux is bothering him. But he still has had trouble sleeping due to heartburn and reflux while lying flat in bed, and has had to sleep with he head raised (in his recliner) 2-3 times a week. But a week ago I found the entries on EarthClinic about apples for reflux. He likes apples OK--we usually share an apple at lunch, so I asked him to eat the lunch-time apple as "dessert" instead of "appetizer", and to also eat 1/4 apple after breakfast and after dinner. He had an IMMEDIATE positive lessening of reflux, and after 3 days he eliminated the Omeprazole from his daily regimen. By adding 1/4 apple in the later evening as well, he has not needed Metoclopramide even once in the past week. APPLES FOR REFLUX WORK LIKE A MIRACLE!!

I have suffered from reflux for four years after getting an ulcer following ibuprofen and antibiotics for a recurrent pneumonia. Originally took Protonix [this is fluoridated and is very harmful]. Eventually replaced that with Therazyme STM enzymes. Didn't notice any difference with apple cider vinegar with baking soda. Now I am just eating an apple after supper and taking raw honey to coat my throat before bed. This works as well or better than anything else. Camomile tea is helpful and I take some baking soda and water if I notice any heartburn which is seldom.

ive heard that an apple, or even just one slice will take care of acid reflux! you can eat them through out the day. the more the better. i tried it and it worked, although i dont know if it is a cure, i know i can help right away. so for those of you who have to wait to get something to cure it, why not munch on an apple in the time being.

When I use to party into the wee hours in my youth, the only stores open back then were 7-11s and Taco Bells. So,2am quick food choices were limited, and I always ate the dreaded Chili Dog with the works; knowing in the morn I was going to regret the choice once again. But, this one time I drank apple juice with my chili dog because the slurpy machine was broken: to my surprise I awoke w/o any acid reflux or indigestion. I didnt understand why until I tried it again, after another night of partying. I was onto a cure, apple juice has worked for me ever since, for over the last fifteteen years.

I'll try to keep the history of my acid reflux short, as it pretty much reiterates many other people's experiences. Over the past 10 years I have figured out that my triggers are: 1st and foremost painkillers, particularly Ibuprofen, but the only thing I can take (IF I drink plenty of water or eat with it), is Tylenol. I can't do Sudafed either, and I try to stay away from meds as much as possible. 2nd trigger: dairy, plain and simple, it is very predictable. If I have too much dairy I can count on the fact that I'll be up that night. It's funny, there have been times I'm up struggling with this, and my husband will say "well, you had that ice cream (or whatever) earlier didn't you?", and then I remember, and know that it isn't all in my head, dairy does in fact aggravate it too. However, goats milk is much more tolerable in moderation, than cow products, I know that the proteins are different between the two, but other than that I don't know why it isn't so aggravating. I did Prevacid for a while initially, which controlled it slightly, but not enough. The turning point for me when I started being able to finally gain some control over this, was with an herbal product by "HERB PHARM" called "Neutralizing Cordial". Also, carbo veg homeopathic remedy has helped a lot, so lately I have been able to control it with that and/or Rolaids, (which I would prefer to get away from as well). By learning my triggers over the years and adding these natural remedies into my repertoire, I have been able to manage this and have found that when I'm doing ok I can eat anything, and that when I'm prone to this, anything will aggravate it. All that was prior to last week; THEN, the other day I followed a pop-up ad from recipezaar.com (great web-site by the way) where a guy is selling some booklet about his acid reflux discovery (didn't by his book yet, where he claims to have a cure for it). But, he did vaguely mention his initial apple discovery helping acid reflux. I tried it that night, thinking "it can't really be this simple can it", and low and behold, it was. I kept expecting to wake up choking with acid, and it never happened. Every night (but 1) I have been eating an apple (or a few slices) after dinner/before bed and it is the first time anything has helped so completely!! The night I forgot, I had to take 2 Rolaids, which I realized had been helping me only minimally compared to the apple. What else is there to say, it certainly can't hurt! I fully expect that this will continue to help, as it's already proven to be far more effective than anything I've tried thus far. It just reminds me that in life, sometimes the best things don't have to be complicated or expensive to be valuable, we get so busy trying to "over-think" things sometimes, that we overlook the simple, basic things that are right in front of us. I wish you luck on your own journey of discovery.
