How Can I Avoid Surgery for a Torn Meniscus?

Posted By Carlton (London, Uk) on 09/30/2017

Hello, does anybody know how to heal a torn meniscus? I am pretty sure this is what I have got, it happened when I nearly tripped and twisted my knee earlier this year.

The doctor sent me to the physiotherapist who insisted it was an injury to the muscle and made me do exercises based on that diagnosis. The exercises have not helped one bit even though I've been doing them for nearly three months. I've stopped going to the physiotherapist now.

I feel like something moves and gets caught inside my knee. At the exact same time I get a searing pain that makes me lunge in a downwards direction (haven't actually gone all the way to the ground yet, thankfully). If I need to continue walking I can only do so by limping as I cannot straighten the leg out properly without really bad pain.

The pain will wear off after a while (could be a matter of minutes or hours)and the knee goes back to normal.

Having done a bit of research on the internet the main option looks like surgery. I certainly don't want that. So thought I'd ask you wise people first. Thanks.

Dear Carlton,

Some on this site have used borax therapy (internally) to heal cartilage. I believe there was someone who recently avoided knee replacement surgery by using borax.

Castor oil packs on the knee promote healing. It may work to just rub castor oil into the knee a couple of times a day.

Bone broth can help with joint repair as can gelatin or collagen.

Providing your body with concentrations of nutrients will give it plenty to work with for repair.

If you look up torn meniscus on this site in the search bar, it appears that some have used blackstrap molasses (internally) this being a great concentration of nutrients. But I would not rely on blackstrap alone, wonderful as it is.

Vitamin C is also important for tissue repair.

Let us know what you try and how it goes. I am hopeful you can avoid surgery!

Thanks for your response Mama to many.

I've got a few of those things you mention here. Have got Vitamin C, castor oil and borax. I bought the borax years ago when I first found this wonderful site but never had any reason to use it. Will go and look for it in the morning. How much do I use? Is it about 1/8th of a teaspoon to a litre of water?

Thanks again.

Dear Carlton,

I think the upper dose for men is 1/4 t. borax in 1 liter of water per day and for women 1/8 t. per day in a liter of water.

That said, I think it is best to start with less (even a scant 1/16 t.) and increase slowly so you can monitor any reactions.
