Dear Cheryl: Doing by eating sugar/salt will only worsen the condition. Reduce your sugar concentration to reserve the body ridding itself of zinc and chromium. You appear to have a long term zinc deficiency. So to get well balanced, just take zinc citrate (or zinc acetate) 50 mg. for about a week, then stop. Then decide whether to do it further, if so do it on alternate weeks. Take magnesium chloride, or magnesium citrate or magnesium acetate would be fine. Then to further restore the taste buds, just take vitamin B complex, the 100 mg. kind, with B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, except for B12 at 100 mcg. Since you are taking too much sugar, you need to restore the chromium also. Just take chromium chloride, or chromium supplements to restore that and top everything with several grams of brewer's yeast. Your taste should restore itself within the beginning of the second week.
