I had a 6th month old Samoyed puppy receive a Parvo Vaccine and came down with the disease. It was a 50/50 chance for about 4 or 5 days that she could have died from it. She did end up ok, but after that I have not been too eager for vaccines with any of my animals. At this time I get only what is required by law for my dog, and do not keep going in every year for a booster rabbies. I also limit the vaccinations with my horse. Lately since Michigan has had a number of West Nile cases, I have vaccinated for that this spring. But I always check into what vets recommend and what I feel is necessary.

Our 10 week old husky puppy had her parvo vaccine yesterday. About a minute and a half after being injected she went into a grandmaul seizure. The vet said he'd NEVER heard of that happening before and he said he's pretty sure she has epilepsy. It was the SCARIEST thing I've ever been through, she seized in my arms. After looking through all these responses and all Im even more firm on my belief that the shot caused the seizure. So far she's not had anymore. But we will be trying the Coliander leaves in her food, and are waiting to hear from the vet to see if DSMO or whatever is aproved for dogs in our state. If so we will be trying that too to make sure there is no long term effects. We LOVE this puppy and dont want to lose her. So a warning to other husky owners, BEWARE.

I had 2 bichon friese/malteseX, 9 yo, bro/sis, both in perfect health. In Sep, 2007 I took them for their annual parvo vaccinations. Suddenly, 2 months later the female is totally blind & the male is blind in the left eye. She also lost weight & was diagnosed diabetic. He had a major seizure & was diagnosed epileptic. I will never have my beloved dogs or any dogs I may own in the future, vaccinated ever again.
