Michael (Davie, Florida) on 01/13/2010:
My first kidney stone was in 5/97. I went to the ER, received medication for pain and after the pain subsided went home. About 3 days later the stone passed with no further problems.
My second Kidney stone was in 1/02 and about 18 hours after the pain began passed a dark brown irregular calculus measuring about 3x2mm.
My third kidney stone incident began on 1/4/10 with the familiar discomfort in my groin and lower back. I was driven home and took some leftover pain med.
Three days later, I finally got to the doctors. I didn't take any pain med and the pain began while in the waiting room and intensified while I waited in the exam room for the PA, ceasing a few minutes before she entered. She sent me to nearby hospital for a CT scan. Their report confirmed a 5mm stone at the opening where the urethra empties into the bladder, a common bottleneck for stones. The Urologist, who was able to see me right away, explained that 5mm is about the limit for stones to pass without assistance and there were two procedures available, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and ureteroscopy, where they insert a fiber optic probe through the urethra and break up and grab the stone in a basket. He said that the stone's position made the blasting not a good percentage option. I decided to give it about a week and set a followup for the next Wednesday. He gave me some Flomax and a strainer and told me to drink a lot of water.
The next few days the pain came and went. Monday, I called the Urologist to set up the operation as soon as possible. It turned out that I needed clearance and some additional tests. The earliest the procedure could be scheduled was Thursday, Jan 14. When I got home, I jogged & walked 2 miles in the park and jumped off of a picnic table several times, trying to dislodge the stone from where it was stuck and move it into my bladder. It might have worked because after that there was no more pain - even the back soreness disappeared.
Tuesday, back to the doctor for an EKG, more blood work, and a chest X-ray. I passed the time in the waiting room looking up kidney stones on the internet on my smart phone. I found an interesting site that promised an effective home remedy of a common drink plus a vegetable, for $40. Researching it at home later, I found it was reported as a scam and that the "secret" was 6 cans of Coke and pureed asparagus. Thankfully, I kept researching alternatives and found this web site that listed hundreds of testimonials for a simple mixture of olive oil and lemon juice.
I went to the store and bought some lemon juice - not from concentrate - in a yellow squeeze bottle. At 3:30 pm I mixed 2 oz of each in a salad cruet (how appropriate) and shook it up really well, then downed it, followed by 12 oz water. The taste wasn't as bad as some reported and other than some oily belches, there were no side effects. It might even have had a beneficial effect of loosening my bowels that were tight from the pain meds. But still no stone.
Later, I rode my horse with my wife and did a lot of sitting trot to keep working on jarring down the stone. We watched a movie until 10:30pm, at which time I made a second cocktail, about 2.5 oz each of oil and juice this time and downed it. I got up to urinate around midnight and heard a distinct clink as the stone passed and hit the bottom of the jar. I collected it with the strainer and it looked different from my previous stones, which were light brown and very jagged. This one measures about 3 x 4mm and is darker, sort of rounded. It's possible the potion partially dissolved it making it rounder and smoother - if so, that's a good thing because there was no pain or any sensation at all when it passed - nine days from the initial attack and about 9 hours after my first drink, 1 1/2 hours after the second.
I'm very grateful to the people who put up this web site. It is truly a godsend. I brought the stone to the Urologist today, to have analyzed, and, obviously, called off the procedure - saving thousands of dollars and unknown discomfort!
I'm convinced that the olive oil and lemon juice helped the stone pass, thus averting unwanted and unnecessary surgery. The urologist thought the jumping did more than the mixture, but admitted that lemon juice is helpful in preventing stones. I plan on taking the mixture periodically to help inhibit kidney stones, cause there's no way I'm going to refrain from all the foods in the big list my urologist gave me. In the future, if I experience kidney stone pain I will take the potion from the outset, combined with some serious jumping. Pain medication and flomax are also helpful.

I took some lemon with water the first night after the excrutiating pain without knowing what it was and I was well the whole day. The second night I tried the lemon but went to the ER. They gave me a lot of pain medication, idetified the size (4 mm) and sent me to the urologist. He recommended the ESWL treatment and I did it. I would have preffered to do the lemon and olive oil treatment first. I use to sell chemicals to prevent calcium oxalate deposits in paper mills and citric acid (a component of lemon juice) was used very often. There is science behind it.

I came across this website and decided to give it a try. What I did was squeeze some fresh lemon juice (approx. 8 ounces) and i drank it over about an hours time. I also had a couple spoonfuls of Olive Oil with my dinner. I drank about 1 liter of water in the couple hours following this.
Felt nothing at first, then about 4 hours later got bad stomach cramping and had diarrhea. Was also nauseous. Cramping remained for about an hour. Then had urge to pee and went. Didn't see anything.
No idea if this did anything for my stones...but i guess it didn't agree with my body lol. Will update to say if it worked or not!

I thought that it could be kidney stones, so I went to your site to see if there was a treatment. I gave it a try and was delighted when the pain subsided. I'm still drinking the Lemon juice/olive oil, and everyday I'm feeling better. Thank you for this wonderful site.

Within a half of and hour the pain had subsided somewhat although I still couldn't urinate. Throughout the course of the day I took several Hot showers focusing the hot water on my right rear flank. Additionally, I would jump up and down and shake it all about vigorously to dislodge the stone which eventually allowed me to urinate a bit. As the day progressed I would continue to drink more water (some with Lemon Juice added) with the result being that the pressure would build up, the pain would increase and I would return to the hot shower and jump about until I was able to relive myself.
At about 6 PM I drank another 2 Ounces of Olive Oil and 2 ounces of Lemon juice as I was convinced the treatment was working. Approximately a half hour later I threw up. By 8 PM my ability to urinate (almost normally) returned to my great relief and the pain had virtually disappeared. At bedtime I took another two OTC Naproxen Sodium pills just to be sure and over the course of the night I woke up several times to urinate, each time more freely than the last. I woke up this morning pain free and have taken one more shot of the Olive Oil/Lemon Juice mixture just to make sure I'm all cleared out.
This treatment absolutely worked for me and I am very thankful to have found out about it. THANK YOU!!

2 oz olive oil and 2 oz. lemon juice for Kidney Stones/Pain.
If you are reading this try it, it works like a charm.
I had kidney pain/stones and in severe pain for 3 weeks and was desperate, severe pain for three weeks.
Although I completely doubted what the simple and safe olive oil and lemon juice mix could possibly have to do with your kidneys, with the many positive ratings I decided to try it.
I drank about 1.5 oz. olive oil and 2 oz. of fresh lemon juice mixed, very important to "mix" so it wont taste too bad.
Results: I felt a little nausea about an hour later.
Then a strange creepy feeling in my gut about 3 hrs later, it felt like "Alien" in my kidneys, I even felt something moving in my good kidney on the other side.
Then I had strange repeated urges to piss.
I didn't piss a stone that I know of, but my chronic 3 weeks of severe kidney pain disappeared ! I could barely get out of bed the day before, and the next mourning was pain free !
Since I took only one dose and had "miraculous" results, I will definitely repeat in a day or two to finish the job.
If you have pain anywhere near Kidneys, TRY THIS FIRST.
It WORKS MAGIC ON KIDNEY STONES !!!
It is basically salad dressing, how it has such an effect on your kidneys I don't know, but trust me it works !
Beats the heck out of paying the ER for painkillers and a surgery!

Better But With Side Effects
Been taking the EVOO and the lemon juice (2 oz of each mixed together). How many times per day seemed to work for people? My stone was a left renal stone lodged way up in kidney. Was scheduled to have surgery last thursday, however, got really sick so couldn't do the surgery. Would much rather pass it on my own. I took the concoction Saturday (morning and night) then Sunday (morning and night) and Monday three times and Tuesday Morning only. I have small bits of gravel (very very tiny) coming out in strainer, and on Monday the pain was severe. Haven't had pain up until this point, so maybe the stone is rollin on down and out? Any advice how long I need to take it? Supposedly I have at least a 7MM stone. Doctor resisted my theory it was stone (I only had bleeding when I exercised, no pain until this past Monday), and sent me for all kinds of cancer tests. As LAST RESORT, he sent me for CT scan and was surprised to find kidney stone. Please advise how long I need to take the stuff. It's been cleaning out I think my gallbladder too, so for the last two days been in bed and bathroom only. Kind of frustrating when one works for a living.

This afternoon, before I even found this site I picked up a nice filet of Sole for dinner and ended up buying 7 lemons to cook it with! I had read about asparagus as a natural diuretic and also bought some rather dubious looking "kidney health" pills. Anyway, cooked the sole with lemon, white wine, shallots and butter, and ate a whole bunch of asparagus. Didn't help much, but then again I wasn't expecting miracles. Then, found thid site and decided I may as well cut up the remaining 4 lemons and drink it down with some EVOO. NASTY to drink, actually gagged a bit on the EVOO, (didn't really measure, just dumped in a shot glass or so)...laid down and tried to read, felt a little bit of stirring in kidneys groin...about 30 minutes later had a massive pee, and no pain at all!
30 hour after that pee I feel like I have to go again, and sitting here typing, I am having a bit of discomfort in my right marble.(sorry :) And the "I have to pee but nothing will come out" feeling is back. :( Guess I need another dose.

6mm stone and I couldn't believe that this really worked on it. I went to the hospital 2:00PM yesterday they did a CAT scan and told my I had a 6mm (1/4") kidney stone. Felt like I was having labor pains & sick to my stomach couldn't keep anything down, one minute I would be sweating the next I would be freezing, absolutely could not be still, excruciating pain, it started about 6:00AM that morning in my lower left back moving around to my left side then to left front then it just stopped. I had one about 3 years ago a 2mm one, so I figured that I knew what it was. When it didn't move for 4 hours I went to the hospital, they put an IV in gave me some pain & nausea meds. did the CAT scan and sent me home with my little screen pan to tinkle in and watch for stone. They said I might pass it and I might not since it was that large. I had to take pain meds. every 3 hours to keep the pain down. I saw this web site this evening and mixed me up 2oz lemon juice and 2 oz olive oil (gross), I had to hold my nose to drink it, I also drank 4-10oz glasses of water right after. Within 2 hours I passed the stone it was 1/4 inch oval. YEA! Thank you so much for this web site I'll be back and I'll tell all my friends about it.

Yea... I woke up on 13/7/09 and felt severe pain at my left lower back. I was on my way to exercise and had to return home because of the pain. At midnight the pain became unbearable and I went to the A&E. They tested my urine and suspected me of having kidney stones. I was then sent home and given two boxes of pain relief and asked to see a specialist ..appt fixed at two weeks later.
Because of the long queue , i couldn't wait any more, I was in deep pain. I saw a private specialist the next day, and was given a x ray and CT scan immediately. That cause me s$500. The urologist confirmed from the scan that I had a 3mm stone causing me the pain.
I was asked to go back and drink a lot of water and continued with the pain killers and wait for the stone to pass out..
I am at a loss..don't know what to do... medically it doesn't seem to help me...I was also worried about the high cost of surgery. I search the web for information. I came to this site, and tried out the lemon juice and olive oil cocktail.
After taking a few doses (once a day) .... the pain is greatly reduced... few days later the pain is gone.I also drink apple juice to soften the stones.
I did pass out some sandy particles and feel that my urine flow is much stronger and light coloured now. I begin to increase my intake of water daily and now feel so much better. I already stop all the medication.
A very sincere thanks to you guys and gals for sharing such a valuable information.
Try the lemon juice and olive oil cocktail if you have kidney stones...If u are afraid at least try one OZ lemon and one OZ olive oil ...just try out..
May all sentient beings be free from pain and suffering....

Second trip to the ER and an appointment with a urologist later it was determined by a ct scan that a 5mm stone was making its way down the left uteror. Was prescribed Flowmax and still had hydrocodone from the uti.
The hydrocodone did little to nothing for this pain, she was writhing and pacing our hall for relief, it was abundantly clear further doctors visits wouldn't yield anything but a pat on the head and a hope it will pass in time.
There had to be relief somewhere, found this site and the ingenious feedback for different tinctures and remedy's.
this being day 5 of this fiasco I am happy to report that taking 2oz lemon juice concentrate and 2 oz Extra Virgin Olive Oil with nose pinched has stopped her pain completely.
She did throw up the contents of her stomach... We tried coke, Heineken, watermelon, tonnes of water, but it ended up with her vomiting cause the pain wouldn't subside.
Just to be safe after throwing up I gave her an table spoon of lemon juice concentrate on her emptied stomach and since she kept that down for an hour loaded her into a hot bathtub and gave her a pain pill.
The pain pill relaxed her enough to sleep in the tub for awhile but... this was about hour three since taking the tincture and an hour after vomiting, the contents didn't look oily oddly enough it looks as if she absorbed enough of the lemon juice to do the magic as this morning shes utterly pain free... just tired.
Gave her a shot glass of the tincture (1 oz each) shes kept it down, which is easier today since theres no pain (duh) lol.
So far. So good. Hoping to see the stone very soon but the RELIEF she experienced this morning is the first relief in days and if your going crazy with this sort of pain do anything.. ANYTHING to take this and keep it down and get comfortable.

Woke up last week and discovered blood in my urine. No pain but the copious blood was startling. Two days later woke up with severe pain in left lower back. Found myself hyperventilating and exhibiting diaphoresis. At this point knew I had a stone, the pain was similar to what I experienced before passing a stone in 1989. The pain was unbearable, I resorted to drinking several litres of purified water, but only passed blood tinged liquid.
Finally I passed two rice sized particles, did not think they were stones since they did not look at all like what I excreted in 1989. Immediately felt better but was still passing lots of blood urinating. Woke up on day three of this ordeal with serious back pain and the inability to void. Desperate, went to this site and started taking the olive oil/lemon juice concoction. Retired to the bed for two and a half hours, felt a "kick" in my lower back. Went to the toilet and voided three more rice size particles. Pain returned, unfortunately, and tried another four ounces of the "cure". Had to urinate an hour later and passed two more rice sized granules. This time, however, there was no blood in the urine! Felt immediate relief which has lasted until today - a week later. Still voiding normally and am optimistic that I've dodged another bullet, or at least a stone! Good luck to my fellow sufferers, give this remedy a try, I'll be eternally grateful I looked up this site on the internet.

In an effort to avoid sugery, and the cost associated with it, we turned to home remedies. First we tried the 2 oz. olive oil with 2 oz. lime juice. He took this about 3 or 4 times a day for two days. On the third day we added a mixture of 2 tbls. of olive oil, the juice of a 1 inch piece of fresh aloe, and 4 or 5 chunks of fresh pineapple. We blended it together and he drank it twice a day. This is a remedy his mother suggested that is used in her native country, El Salvador.
On the third day of using the olive oil and lime juice, and just one day after starting the Salvadorean home remedy, my husband passed his stone without pain. It was just like the other people on this website reported. We couldn't be happier with the outcome!

I noticed that I was getting lower back pain for no reason, and it kept getting worse. I was having problems getting to sleep because of the terrible pain.
