Modified on Nov 14, 2023

Fatigue is a feeling of exhaustion that can apply to both your physical and mental state. Medically, it is a general symptom with a wide variety of causes and cannot be observed professionally, as it is a feeling of whoever is experiencing fatigue. Natural remedies that are reported to help include vitamin d3, melatonin, magnesium, electrolyte hydration, and supplements or herbs that eliminate candida.

What is Fatigue?

Fatigue is part of our day-to-day lives and usually only requires rest to get us back to our normal, functional selves. Specific subsets of fatigue include mental fatigue, a temporary drop in desired cognitive ability, typically caused by long periods of intellectual activity. Physical fatigue, similarly, is a temporary decrease in function of a muscle (muscle fatigue), and can be made worse by continuing physical activities. Stress and fatigue can go hand in hand as well; fatigue is a normal response of our bodies when we need to take a break.

Self-reported fatigue that lasts longer than a month (consistently or relapsing) is called chronic fatigue, and may be indicative of a disease or condition such as celiac disease, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, or cancer to name a few and chronic fatigue syndrome itself is become a distinct disorder of our health. Adrenal fatigue is the theory that the adrenal glands of the kidney can become exhausted and unable to produce hormones, causing a slew of symptoms including tiredness.
