Will Microwaving Apple Cider Vinegar Destroy Its Beneficial Qualities?

Hi folks, I found your site doing some research pertinent to finding ANY relief from a nasty sinus infection. While doing so I came upon the apparent overwhelming benefits of apple cider vinegar, not only for sinusitis but also for just about everything else that ails ya...

Here is my question, prefaced with what I have here.

I bought the unfiltered/unpasteurized/ raw/organic ACV with "The Mother". I also have some raw honey.

Am I defeating the purpose of the ACV when I mix it with water and honey and then put it in the microwave to heat it? In other words am I killing off the beneficial parts of it by "nuking" it. From what I've read the pasteurization of some ACV's render them ineffective in this case.

I'll drink it cold if I have to but I like it warm with the honey, and the fumes while drinking it work wonders as well apparently.

On a side note I also dumped about a tablespoon of this ACV into my humidifier, which seems to help as well.

Thanks for the information at this website, apparently I've been missing a very simple and effective way of improving what is already overall pretty good health, I just would love an answer regarding my above question so I can tweak things properly.

Hi Scott, Yes, you'd be much better off warming the water in a pan or in a teapot first, then adding the vinegar/honey to the warm water. Don't boil the water (which will also destroy the helpful organisms in both ACV and honey). Just warm it to the temperature you would actually drink it at, then add the honey and ACV. The few extra minutes taken to do this will pay out in effectiveness.

You can also do this ahead of time, put it in a thermos and have a warm drink ready during your day if need be.

I'm a big fan of this drink, with and without the honey. It's worked wonders for me and for others I know.

Good luck and warm wishes ~

Thanks Deborah. Since I posted that I have tried it in cool water and discovered that it tastes fine to me that way as well, so for simplicity's sake I'll probably just do it that way from now on. I appreciate the feedback.
