What Oils Are Best for Oil Pulling?

Posted By Zakary (Changchun, Jilin, China) on 05/16/2012

Hello! I am interested in starting oil pulling, and I have a few questions. As I am in a 2nd tier city in China, finding organic oils will be difficult, and the cost of having them shipped would most likely be prohibitive. After reading a lot of the other posts, I've decided to try sesame oil, but apparently sesame oil in China is darker and made from toasted sesame seeds, as compared to Indian sesame oil, which is lighter. Will I still get the same benefits from the darker oil? Or should I try a different oil. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Zakary, I use common otc vegetable oil (corn, canola, soy) from local grocery w/ good results. Add some Vit-E and Vit-A to the oil (shake well) for added benefit.

Timh: NEVER use canola or soy oil for oil pulling!!!! Canola is extremely toxic over a period of time and avoid as much soy as you can except for miso, tofu etc. Google canola dangers and you'll see why. Oil pulling is best with coconut, walnut, olive etc (canola is the rapeseed plant)
