Is Blackstrap Molasses Safe for Diabetics?

Posted By Julie (Lesotho, Africa) on 06/24/2015

I have only read about Molasses a few days ago, prior to which I did not use it. I didn't like the taste. I am diabetic, and was just wondering if anyone in the similar situation have/are using BSM, and if so what is their experience with their diabetic situation? I have used it in the evening for the last two days. My urine was bubbly this morning, and I have realised it becomes like that if I have indulged in some sugary foods (once in a while).

HI U JULIE, , , , , , , , what a pretty name. One of my top 10.......... as Rush says.

I posted years ago that when I did Blackstrap Molasses, my glucose test went out the roof, so I stopped.

I think it is the iron. As my Integrative Doctor told me, iron is a two edged sword.

Jus my experience. ====ORH======

I was borderline diabetic and molasses spiked my blood sugar bad. Only if I added it to something like soup with vegetables was I able to tolerate it. I can eat sweets but certain foods really trigger my blood sugar and make me feel very uncomfortable (e.g. molasses, ripe bananas, fresh apple and carrot juice).
