How to Take Bentonite Clay?

Posted By Robin (Rural VA) on 08/21/2008

Can anyone tell me how to go about taking Bentonite Clay? I imagine the blender would work to mix it with water or juice, but I was hoping to find a simpler method. As you might imagine, if mixed with cold water it ends up in a clump that doesn't want to dissolve.

I usually put water in a plastic container (cup) that has a lid, add bentonite, close the lid and shake it. It works quite well, it never clumps up. Hope this helps.

I haven't had any problems with mixing my clay with cold water, but I use a brand that is a very fine powder so maybe that makes a difference. I either add 1 Tbsp. to 8 oz of water, stir and let stand 10 minutes, stir again and drink. You can 'blender' it or you can make your mixture up the night before and let it sit overnight, before drinking stir and add additional water, if necessary. I also use a plastic mixing cup-it has a screw on lid with a mess insert that helps break up the clumps. They're usually sold by health/fitness stores/websites and used for protein shakes. I highly recommend buying a book on Bentonite Clay as there are MANY internal and external uses for it with different measurements. The book I've read is by Perry A~.
