Fractionated Coconut Oil

Posted By Kat (Mooresville, USA) on 03/18/2008

Can anyone tell me if fractionated coconut oil is as good for my skin as VCO. I read that it doesn't smell and will wash out of towels and sheets easily. Any comments? Thanks, Kat

FOR KAT..I DO USE IT ON MY SKIN, AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE I FEEL..MY HANDS WERE ALL DRYED, AND WRINKED FROM SOAP, AND DETERGENTS.. AFTER ONE WEEK, THEY ARE SOFTER, AND AGE SPOTS ARE DISSAPEARING..I USE IT ON FACE, MORNING, AND NIGHT..THIS ALSO FEELS SMOOTHER, AND MOISTURIZED. I COOK WITH IT, AND TALE ONE TBL A DAY FOR INNER HEALTH..THERE IS NO STAINS ON MY CLOTHING, OR BEDDING..I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH FOR VCO..KATIE

An answer to this post is as such:

Virgin coconut oil is about as close as you will get to a whole fresh coconut. Including vitamins and minerals and other beneficial properties.

Fractionated coconut oil is refined to remove all the long-chain triglycerides (and some of the vitamins and minerals).

I have heard debate that coconut oil is comedogenic (pore-clogging), and I have sensitive skin which clogs easily but I have found that virgin coconut oil does not clog my pores. I suspect the story would be very different for fractionated coconut oil.

I hope that this sheds some light on the differences in coconut oil.
