My dog was licking her legs and the homeopathic person said she could have shin splints or sore legs. She suggested I give her MSM. My husband and I take it for sore joints so I have been giving it to her every day and it seems to be helping. She weighs over 100 lbs and I give her 2-4 1,000mg tablets a day.

If you suspect arthritis MSM might be helpful. It would be good for your dog in any case at her age. I give it to all my dogs regularly, and the one with severe hip dysplasia benefits greatly as it helps with the pain as well. You might also try a clay pack (hydrated bentonite clay), which draws out infection if there is one, but also helps to soothe the area.
