Overdosed Dog With Too Much Turmeric - Please Help

Gave my 65 or so lb pitt bull tumeric milk I made with olive oil and coconut. No measure cup so I approx .think it was way to much tumeric I glass distilled water half cup tumeric already had pepper in it heated up then poured in jars feed dog maybe 1teaspoon with food at night .woke up and around 10 in morning all swollen face and eyes getting worse .no vets will take us . Gave him liquid Benadryl .it's 5.pm he is now breaking out with welts hives etc . His body is reacting like it's a toxin cause I gave too much. All I have is milk thistle on hand no activated charcoal. He has appetite and I m just worried to death his airways will close ...please Help*********

Dear Sunshine,

That doesn't at all sound like way too much turmeric...But if he is allergic to it, perhaps any amount would be an issue.

Were you trying to treat something in particular? Could that be related to this reaction?

Would you have nettle leaf? It is good for allergic reactions. 1/2 teaspoon? Milk thistle may work as well, at least to detox.

Will he drink? Fluids may help flush out whatever is the issue. Try whatever he would be most likely to drink a lot of, colder water, beef broth, etc.
