Looking for suggestions to treat corneal ulcer in dog

Posted By Jan (Orlando, Fl, Usa) on 09/08/2010

I am looking for any suggestions to help my dog with corneal ulcers. She is 11 yrs old, and I believe she has ended up with them because of failed western medical treatment protocols. It all started with a reaction to Rimadyl for arthritis that went downhill from there. She is finally coming back to normal but now has corneal ulcers. We are off to see a dog ophthalmologist today to see what her prognosis is. But I have been so burned by western medical treatment for my dog that I want to know what other options may be out there. The Earthclinic website has been a lifesaver over this holiday weekend as I worked to save my dog's life, so before I do anything other than get a second opinion, I hope to hear what other options folks may have tried. Thanks!

Did you ever find anything for the corneal ulcer?

I have been putting castor oil in my dogs eye after corneal abrasion/ulcer, as well as a natural product called EYE CLEAR (Brand: "Natural Animal Solutions") he is much better, I'm a bit weary of using drugs/steroids as they can actually make the eye worse. I've actually used this method myself, very effective and safe for dogs. I strongly encourage natural options first ..and personally..sending out a sincere prayer to the Creator for healing. All the best
