Hiv infected mother of terrier with foot mange

Posted By Rebecca (Michigan) on 06/04/2013

My American Terrier has some kind of Dermatitis foot mange caused by his mother having HIV- is what vet said. I'm a broke college student and can't afford the vet treatments he needs. His feet are swollen with blister like sores on them, in between his toes, and he limps with pain. His overall immune system is horrible but I don't want to put him down. Please help I'm so unbelievably stressed out!!!

Rebecca, I am so sorry your dog and you are going through this. Have you looked at the hydrogen peroxide and borax cure? I have never tried it, but have read the positive feedback on this site. It appears to work on different types of mange. https://www.earthclinic.com/pets/dog_mange_cure.html#TEDS. Keep the faith. There's an inexpensive cure out there for him.

Hi! Thank you so much for the link, however I have no idea what sodium perborate is or where to find it.

Hi Rebecca, the mange cure is borax and hydrogen peroxide diluted in water from what I have read on this site. I buy my borax in the laundry section of the grocery store. It's called 20 Mule Team. I am not sure what sodium perborate is.

Since your dog has it between his paws, I am wondering if he has been stepping on any pesticides on the grass? Just a thought. You might want to rinse them off every time he comes inside in case there are irritants on the ground where he has been walking. Please let us know how it goes.
