Poor thing!
I would try a comfrey salve topically to sooth it and help it to heal. Dr. Christopher's brand from amazon is inexpensive and very effective for many things.
Internally if you can get her to take some turmeric that would be good. You will find dosing information on this page. It is an anti-inflammatory.
To completely heal the skin, you dog may need a more specialized diet - grain free, perhaps raw. Including probiotics may be helpful.

Hi Mama to Many, have had Skye on freeze dried food for about a month now. Coat generally much better but patches show no improvement. Also tried the Comfrey no improvement yet. Not tried the turmeric so far. Only alternative is to go to vets again I would switch but they would be starting from scratch (if you pardon the pun). Running out of options to get her some relief. Hi Sue,So sorry to hear this. Many skin issues in dogs are related to their food. A raw food diet can clear up many skin and health issues starting within a few days. I have written extensively about this on Earth Clinic. It's expensive, but you can add some high-quality kibble to help with costs. However, you have to find the right balance or it won't work (i.e., not too much kibble).
My dog, now 16, had the worst imaginable skin/yeast issues and they ALL cleared up within a week of a freeze-dried raw food diet (He didn't like the frozen raw food so I had to go with freeze-dried). You will ultimately save money at the vet by investing in good food.

Hi Deirdre,Thank you very much for your response. I did try her in the frozen raw food but she didn't like it at all and I ended up giving it away. Where could I purchase the freeze-dried raw food please? I would love to give it a try especially if there would be an improvement in a week or so.

I cook for our dog. It’s very easy. Use an Instant Pot!Every couple days I cook brown rice, with veggies such as carrots, green beans, and peas, proteins are rotated beef, chicken and my dogs favorite whiting fish which I buy at Shoprite in big bags. Quality oil add one tablespoon olive, or coconut.
Mealtime is homemade with some quality kibble and fish oil on top. My vet approved this diet.
If you go this route, it will help your dog's dry skin from the efas in fish.
if your dog has yeast issue, a spray 50 50 apple cider vinegar works!
Adding salmon oil to food bowl will help with dry skin.

I have 2 dogs with dry skin, both were rescues, they found us. But they have multiple issues and dry skin was one of them, patchy on one. She is now healed up. She loves her baths and they have done her well.Bathing your sweet girl with these items will help immensely. When my girl was bad, I bathed her two to three times a week. It helped my girl that plus diet. adding foods that help their coat and skin that you may already have. The first picture is boiled rosemary in water that not only helps with fleas but helps relieve skin issues and helps grow in hair.

Thank you JgnyYes, I do apply coconut oil which helps a little but with her itching herself on the carpet comes with issues. Would like to find a possible allergy fix. I am going to try the freeze dried food but also continue with the Coconut oil. Thank you.

Hi Ms M,Thank you for your advice I will look into the possibility of cooking from scratch.
I do give her olive oil, coconut oil and spray areas with apple vinegar but although she is much better than when I first adopted her as she was in a very poor condition coat/skin she still has issues that make her uncomfortable. Thank you.

Can anyone recommend a UK brand freeze dried raw dog food please? If used yourself for redness of skin round feet and thin coat patches how long did it take until you saw an improvement in your dog?Thank you

Perhaps you can compare the ingredient list with something you find in the UK as these two brands have been on the market for a while.1. Small Batch Freeze-Dried. This is the one I have bought for years now and what cured my dog with severe skin issues (and extreme fur loss) Check out the ingredient list on the website for chicken as an example. They make frozen patties and freeze-dried.
