My dog was checked for protein allergies and is allergic to most proteins. We had her on z/d from the vets and it seemed to work for a while but then she wouldn't eat it. Switched her to a limited ingredient diet (bison and sweet potato) was doing well and suddenly she is losing hair everywhere. Bison was on the low end of her protein allergies. The place where we buy her food suggested an oatmeal shampoo. We hardly ever have to bathe her, but gave that a try last night. Any suggestions?

Hi Daisy's Mom,
Please have your vet run a thyroid panel on your dog. Fur loss, appetite loss and low energy are common signs of hypothyroidism in dogs. It is one test that vets neglect to run for some reason, yet a high percentage of dogs are hypothyroid. Meds are inexpensive if needed. May take a month on thyroid medication to see the fur grow back. Hope this helps!
