Theresa
The wonderful Theresa from Minneapolis, MN has been helping pet owners and their beloved pets around the world on Earth Clinic since 2013.
About Theresa
Theresa from Minneapolis was born and raised in the inner city, always wishing she had been raised on a farm.
Her love for creatures great and small began at an early age, starting with caterpillars - which continues to this day, along with an interest in all insects and 'creepy crawlies'.
Theresa's interest in pet health started with a bird keeping hobby at age 14, where she learned from another hobbyist that the simple addition of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) in a bird's drinking water kept fungal infections away; she was able to share this with her avian vet who in turn prescribed it to her own clients; Theresa was surprised to learn that she could teach her vet a thing or two. This important lesson - that each of us can be a teacher - was a turning point for Theresa, and fueled her quest for the knowledge held in lore, and remedies passed by word of mouth. That quest for knowledge continues to this day, as new and old remedies alike are explored. She may not have experience with a particular issue, but she will research it to the best of her ability and share what she finds freely, in the hopes that you can heal or improve your pet's health.

Hello Lilly,
If this were my dog I would get off the Pedigree immediately; read the ingredient label - that food is mostly corn :-(. Upgrade to a grain free diet, or continue with a home made diet- there are tons of recipes on the internet if you google you will find some.
My next thought is that you boy may have a parasite such as giardia or another protozoan. Choose the remedy that you are most drawn to from this list. I have had good success with carrots, sunflower seeds and brown sugar and also kelp, oregano oil and olive leaf extract.

I am so sorry to hear about your four legged friend. Now there are several different things that can cause bloody diarrhea so take him to the vet without delay!
It's a sad fact that Pedigree dog food is made with corn, genetically modified corn. In numerous animal tests Monsantos nightmare foods like genetically modified corn utterly destroy the animal's intestinal system. Animals develop hideous bloody lesions and numerous cancerous tumors all over through out the intestinal tract. These lesions get infected internally and the animals suffer in great pain.
Grain is not a predators natural diet. The intestinal system of dogs is geared towards meat eating, dogs being predators by nature.
Now don't give up hope just yet, some animals come through it as their human friends change their diets ..
To begin healing very careful attention needs given to what he eats.. Don't feed him anything that has grain in it especially corn. Corn is the worst thing you could feed your dog. Rice is better and vegetables are preferable over rice. Sick dogs do best when their diet is as close as possible to what nature intended, raw meat and raw bones. A dogs digestive juices are powerful enough to digest fresh raw bone but not cooked bone. Raw meat scraps are often available for free at butcher shops.
One of the very best things to fix a weak dogs intestinal system and restore health would be mothers milk from a healthy lactating dog. Mothers milk is not simply a protein food, it is a combination of everything a puppy needs for survival. It contains massive immune system transfer factors which block cancer cells from developing. It contains antibacterials and antifungals which control harmful species plus it contains beneficial bacteria desperately needed for survival.
Look up transfer factors at Shirley's Wellness Cafe to learn more about this exciting discovery. Shirley also has immense knowledge base for animal health problems too and she will gladly talk to you on the phone for free. Her number is on her website.
As a substitute for canine milk it might work to take bovine colostrum or raw unpasteurized milk. When milk is pasteurized it loses its life giving immune system properties. As an alternate to raw milk or a supplement to raw milk, immune system "transfer factors" can be given to sick animals just like humans take. Immune system transfer factors take a young animal or human with an uneducated undeveloped immune system and then educate the immune system on what microbes are good, what microbes are bad and how to launch a defense against the bad ones. Transfer factors are like a wise old grandma teaching her kids about life. It revs up and activates the immune system.
Coconut oil is super healthy and contains antifungals and antibacterials that fight bad organisms. Coconut oil helps heal the intestines and give sick animals and humans alike lots of energy.
When dogs get sick they always do one thing, they go out side and eat grass. Hmmm think about that a minute. Grass contains huge amounts of chlorophyll. This destroys harmful organisms and helps the benefical bacteria. Green juices like chewed up grass have a lot of healing potential in them. They absorb toxins from the intestinal tract. Cancers hate chlorophyll! its full of cancer fighting compounds and oxygen. Chlorophyll is very soothing and healing to the intestines. People who have crohn's disease have found that chlorophyll helps fight off opportunistic infections and speeds healing time immensely.
Certain types of mycoplasma attack the intestinal tract. Mycobacterium avium paratuburculosis is one that causes crohns, another one that can infect animals and humans alike is mycoplasma fermentans. It can attack the intestinal tract causing great damage too. Mycoplasmas are kept in check by high concentrations of good bacteria, good diet and a strong immune system. When diet gets poor, intestinal bacteria gets weak, immune system loses strength then bad things start to appear out of no where. At that point a mineral solution called gallium nitrate can kill off the harmful species and help your immune system to recover. Study things that heal the intestinal tract in people with crohns. They have had lots of agonizing experience with that. Gallium helps crohns victims recover but almost no one knows about it.
Aloe vera is a cheap and maybe effective thing that helps the intestines heal. You might give it a shot.
Veterinarians have probiotics specifically made for dogs. There are a few strains common to dogs that people don't have so you can not get 100% of the proper digestive organisms a dog needs from yogurt. But yogurt does help quite a bit. I would try it if it were my dog.
I hope you will find the answer and keep getting doggy kisses for a while longer.

When my dogs get an upset stomach or diarrhea from eating things that they shouldn't, I reach for activated charcoal. I use the capsules...1 for a small dog around 13 lbs and 2 for my 23 lb dog. They love organic plain yogurt so I also give them a spoonful of that every day.
