Advice needed on dogs yelping when laying down

Posted By Angleysnine (Pascagoula, Ms, Usa) on 05/23/2011

I have a 11 yr old rotwieller german shepherd mix about 62 lbs. I have noticed he has joint pain but lately when he lays down he will yelp and raise his head and just stare into space. I have been giving him joint pills and a fourth teaspoon of turmeric twice a day(just started this today) But does anyone have an idea of what is wrong with him? He seems fine outside trying to bully the yorkie mix nothing wrong but inside and only when he is starts to lay down or not long after he lays down he yelps like in pain or will whine? Please any advise- he is my big baby I call him grandpa wilber. Thanks for any advise plus he does walk with a limp.

I have been giving my dogs MSM for their bone/joint health. It is helpful with pain from hip dysplasia and just healthy for the ones without issues. Do you know what causes the limp? Is it a joint issue or could there be something else wrong? Do you know where the issue is? Paw-knee-hip? He may just be preoccupied when he's up and about, but has time to react to the pain once inactive. If you can figure out what causes the limp, a pack with hydrated clay can do wonders. 2 of my dogs on separate occasions started limping one day. I could find nothing on their paws so I assumed a sprain. I made a clay pack over night and one was fine the next day, the other I re-wrapped the next day and again 2 more overnights, then he too was fine.
