Woman worried about receding gums

Posted By Carla (Brighton, England) on 10/30/2014

I am a 39 year old woman, I had 2x teeth extracted with a pin which I had in put in place after an accident 16 years ago. I was told to gargle initially with salt water and then with corosdyle mouthwash non alcohol - which I did for 6 weeks.

My gums have receded so much, they are not red and swollen at all just very pale pink.

At first after the extraction I had a lot of pain and discomfort with the temporary plate thy gave me to wear during daytime, I could only bare to wear it for half an hour as it rubbed so much and would cause the gums to bleed. Now I can wear it for longer and it does not irritate as much.

I am really concerned and very self conscious now as my teeth look awful with the gums so far back.

I was also worried as I never drink but 2.5 weeks after it I had 2x cans of JD & Coke which were brought for me on my birthday, it has been ages since I have touched or even wanted an alcoholic drink - sad but I prefer water lol which is what I mostly drink in preference to anything. I am worried this caused it. Is that possible?

Have you tried oil pulling? That one time JD and coke didn't do a thing! Read up on oil pulling to help your gum tissue. Good Luck!

I recommended brushing with peroxide to a coworker for controlling plaque on his teeth. A few months later he said that his gums no longer were bleeding, his teeth were no longer loose and no plaque! He was happy!
