Why Do I Get a Sinus Attack When My Head Gets Cold?

Posted By Bonnie (Riverside, Ca. United States) on 03/01/2012

Hello, I am doing so well with my sinusitus problem.

I use about 3 to 4 drops of Apple Cider Vinegar in a netti pot with warm water (no ill effects after 4 months). And I also started using Iodized salt (about 1/4 teas. ) in a neti pot with warm water. With both treatments I try to suck up the water with Iodized salt or ACV high up into my sinuses! I use the treated water in both nostrils.

These daily treatments keep my sinuses clean and free of mucus or pollen etc.

I am hardly ever using medication at all--this is how well I have been!

BUT... when the top of my head especially at the very top back part of my head gets COLD (I can feel the cold with my hand) I WILL GET A FULL BLOWN SINUSITIS ATTACK! I get shaky and confused and can't think clearly. Anyone around me better leave! I can't tolerate anything when this type of attack hits. When these attacks happen I use a blow dryer to warm up my head and wear a warm cap and I take an allergy pill. This stops the attack.

My question is this:

Why does a cold head cause a sinusitis attack?

What is happening to cause this? Anyone know?

Hi Bonnie, I have the same symtoms and I would love knowing why I get a sinus attack when I'm in a room with aircon, which I do a lot since I live in a tropical climate. Regards, kike
