Posted By Levi (Honey Brook, Pa) on 09/28/2015

Our dad has emphysema, and get short of breath, he bought a nebulizer and wants to try 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. He would like to know what the recommended mix ratio is.

We have used 5 drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide plus 35 drops of distilled water. We put that in the nebulizer cup. If that seems too strong, you could even use less. It often seems to make one cough initially. Just take it slowly at first.

If using 12 % H2O2 to nebulize how much would you use say in drops or would you dilute it with distilled water first to make 3%?

If 1/4 cup of 12% is mixed with 3/4 cup distilled water. How much of straight 12% of drops could you use in a nebulizer diluted with distilled? The nebulizer has a capacity of .02, .04, and .08

Should use only Normal Saline 0.9% as your buffer agent not distilled water.

HI U LEVI, , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Love your name, as that is a throw back to my youth. All kids now are named for Hollywood. Nothing out of the bible anymore.

I first did the Bill Munro thing by inhaling 3% but when I went to a nebulizer that was too strong. I cut it to 1 1/2% and thats worked fine for me.

You just have to find what works for your dad.

Wish you well.=======ORH======
