What Exercises Strengthen the Knees?

Posted By Namaw (Al) on 06/29/2015

I made a sudden turn and hurt my knee. On the inside of my leg, like it extended or bent inward instead of front to back. It's not constant pain, only when you least expect it. I have limited my walking to a leisurely stroll, anything more and it really hurts. I wear an elastic brace on it when I can (can't to work w/ hose). Any exercises I can do to strengthen it? Not enough pain to need pain remedy, but I would like to get it back to where it was. Thanks.

Hi Namaw,

There are 2 particular machines at the gym that I use to help strengthen my knees, the seated leg curl and the leg extension machines. I have a weak meniscus on one of my knees from an old karate injury and these machines help immensely. Only use them once or twice a week.

Also in my case, losing a few pounds immediately helps my knee pain.

Please let us know how you progress!
