What can help an exposed root after dental extraction

I was looking for an answer to a situation after an upper tooth extraction. A while after the extraction, an exposed root has shown up. It is painful and I just want to know if there is a natural treatment for this. Thank you.

Linda, the most common is French Green Clay, but we've used other clays for all manner of toothaches, with success.
