Very large ganglion cyst on knee

Posted By Jenny (Kansas City, Missouri) on 01/25/2015

I am 35 and I have a pretty large ganglion on the outside of my right knee. I've had it surgically removed twice. The first time it was back in exactly 6 months. The second doc was more aggressive and said the actual ganglion tentacles from the cyst went really deep into my knee joint and were near nerve bundles which was why it was so painful. Very frustrating because my Mom has one in the same spot and it doesn't hurt at all. So the second doc said he was sure he got it all and stitched the cavity shut very tight to hopefully prevent a recurrence.

That was about 5 years ago and last week it came back. I am beside myself. It hurts and makes my knee weak so it's hard to walk and I cannot keep having surgery over and over. Yesterday I got frankincense oil at a local health food store and applied it with a large bandage. I am going to do this every 24 hrs and pray it goes away. It did seem to burn a bit after a while, but wasn't unbearable. I have also been using a tens unit on my knee after work to relieve some of the pain. Wondering if I should try the epsom salt orally as well. Hopeful, but seems that nobody on here has had a knee cyst so mine may be bigger and deeper than the ones on the wrist or hand. I really hope this works!
