Suggestions needed for treating sinus infection and candida

Posted By Madsally (York, Pennsylvania) on 12/30/2014

I've been battling a sinus infection and likely a systemic candida infection for months. I had been so sick, I was diagnosed incorrectly and treated for Lyme. (Four months of antibiotics! ) The antibiotics were stopped 2-1/2 weeks ago, but a month prior to that I started on the "candida diet" and was already taking probiotics. Following the antibiotic and a three day rest I was put on a prescription anti-fungal. I finished the prescription week ago and am now on herbal antifungals in addition to the diet and probiotics. I am making definite progress but am not yet better.

The sinus part of this did not present like a sinus infection. I had a sore throat and swollen glands but no obvious sinus pain and only clear but thick post nasal drip (lots). I was told by more than one doctor there was no infection because the drainage was clear, including an ENT who scoped me .

I have been using a neti pot for a couple of months with limited success and and nine days ago started using a Sinupulse. I've made a lot of progress with this (it's neti-pot x 10). Initially, I got a bright white discharge (I read this is probably yeast) and a couple of times a green glob. So yes, Dr ENT, I do believe there is an infection. Now I am just getting clear mucous, but still feeling a swollen and sore throat (much better but still there).

I am currently using 4 cups of rinse in the Sinupulse with the appropriate amount of XCLEAR xylitol solution three times a day. I just purchased "Nutribiotic Maximum GSE Liquid Concentrate". The bottle says "for external use only". How many drops of the concentrate would I use per 4 cups of sinus rinse solution? Some posters are using quite a lot but I'm not sure if they are using the concentrate. So far, I've been brave enough to put one drop in four cups of sinus rinse. :-)

Should I also be taking it internally? Every time I add something (yesterday I added oregano oil) I go through die-off symptoms (an increased swollen throat, joint pain, feeling crappy) so I am very cautious now and proceed slowly! The bottle says for external use only and has all kinds of cautions, so that has me spooked.

I intended for this to be a quick question... sorry for the length. I'd appreciate any and all comments and suggestions. I'm hoping to return to life as normal very soon!

Sally

Hi Sally, look into olive leaf extract. It cured a post nasal drip I had that even oil of oregano didn't help. I had also used GSE and garlic to no avail. And I had seen 2 ENTs that said I had no infection. Good luck!

Thank you SP! I am using "Candida Support" and it has several anti-fungals. I'm making progress with it but doesn't seem to put me into a die-off spiral. Maybe I'll try adding Olive Leaf Extract cautiously. Since I've been sick, I seem to be so sensitive to everything. My doctor says my body is a bit "pissed off" and it's like the bully in the playground. All you need to do is tap him on the shoulder and you get punched in the face. :-)

I have heard that a sinus infection requires emotional therapy. Look and see if you had an upset shortly before the onset of the sinus...if you did not express your feelings, but stuffed them in your body. This is a case where, if you do not cry outwardly, you cry inwardly. That is the sinus condition - internal crying. Yoga breath therapy, called pranayama in India, should heal it.

Hi Madsally I understand you perfectly fine, been there n it feels like there is no solution. I did tons of stuff with no success until I cleaned my blood, stopped all dairy, sugar, starches n all junk food n drinks. It's very hard to find what to eat but you can do it. Took n still take pre n probiotics, lots of greens, cell power n use essential oils. Used (n still do) sarsaparilla in tea, extract or caps( tea or extract works better n faster) to clean your blood. Echinacea to boost your system. Lots of Vit. C. Did a liver flush n believe me this does work. I felt brand new after the flush, I felt lighter, was able to breathe, think clearer n energy came back. You need to check for one n learn exactly what n how to do it with as well as what to do afterwards. This condition is helped only when you keep a healthy lifestyle, especially in the eating habits. This is a lifestyle, not a one time deal or it will come back with a vengeance. Antibiotics in my case made candida worse😧😱.( I could say it would do that to everyone who has candida ), I've seen many people suffer from it. I also made sure to keep my bowels functioning to no less than three times a day n took a gastrointestinal support supplement. Blood n liver cleanse is very crucial, including your eating habits. We r what we eat, n everything else we put in our bodies. The pre n pro biotic r to be taken daily to help keep good flora in balance, especially after taking antibiotics for the condition. This condition can really make you very frustrated n hopeless but it's a matter of priorities n remember you have only one health n body, you choose n decide what works n is best for you. I suffered from this since little into my 30's n was told by doctors I was dying but couldn't tell me y. So I prayed n decided to do what God impress me to do. Now I'm in my 60's by God's grace. If this is not taken care of it can get worse in many ways. Need to keep your blood n immune system healthy. Hope you're doing good by now since I just read your comment. I'm getting up to date on these remedies to help some little children. God bless n I hope this helps.
