Suffering from crohns disease since 12

Posted By Tracy (Waynesburg, Pa. Usa) on 11/15/2011

Hi Ted, I am Tracy and have suffered on and off with crohn's since I was 12 y/o I'm now 44 y/o. I was in remission for quite a bit of my adult years but in 2009 symptoms came back HARD. Reached, coma state, due to a potassium drop from 3.5 (which is where potassium needs to be maintained) to a scary 1.9 (I was near-dead) awoke after 3 days of admission in a medical ICU ward.

The symptoms have not eased but temporarily since this time in (April 2009) up to current date and time. I just had surgery for an incarcerated hernia, dr's didn't want to correct it surgically due to my extensive surgeries.

I was told that the swelling as of this past surgery date (October 2011) that the swelling is currently acute in reference to the crohn's disease and had a partial bowel obstruction at that time which was full blown in a matter of 2 weeks after. So I don't know now where to go or what to do the dr's suggestion is to treat me with remicade well shoot just 1 side effect from that medication is at least equal to the most chrohn's disease symptoms so not only am I afraid to take this medication but also don't understand that this is a better way of life for anyone suffering with crohn's so HELP please.

thank you a BUNCH,

a neighbor crohn's disease friend and sufferer,

Tracy

David Klein's book (basically fruit and veggies diet) helped a family member with Crohn's. Pain and diarrea subsided in one or two days.
