Husband's Stomach Bloats After Eating Processed Meats

My elderly husband's stomach bloats when he eats certain foods? Such as luncheon meats. After awhile the bloating subsides. Can anyone explain why this happens? Other than that he seems in good health and is strong for his age. He is 73 years of age.
EC: Most luncheon meats are processed with sodium nitrate to extend shelf life, prevent bacterial growth, and stop the meat from graying. Can cause irritation to the digestive system. Research online to discover more side effects.

I suspect most bloating is caused by a nasty bacteria/mold/fungus that takes up residence in your digestive tract; that it flourishes when exposed to certain foods. I would try a teaspoon of sugar saturated with turpentine or food-grade D-limonene and see if that kills the critters. For those who fear this simple old remedy instead try 1-rounded teaspoon of raw grated coconut (not the oil). I am referring to the common sweetened coconut found in the cooking isle of your grocery. Eat that spoonful 2 or 3-times during the day. Based on my own experience I have found raw sweetened coconut much more effective at killing internal bacteria, fungus, and viruses than coconut oil. The meat combined with the sweetener seems to have a 'smart-bomb' effect.
