Sleep Apnea and Asthma Medication

Posted By John (Thailand) on 02/05/2016

Sleep Apnea. One of the causes is asthma medicines – muscle relaxants - the ‘V’ aerosol which I have used for 62 years which also caused terrifying sleep apnea by relaxing the muscles at the base of the tongue.

I have been sleeping with a ‘T’ shirt with a pocket at the back and with a hard tennis ball in the pocket. It works but sometimes I sleep on the ball a little and wake in the morning with a sore back. Never mind, it’s worth it.

What I want to know is now that I have stopped the ‘V’ bronchial dilator, (60 days) will this also stop relaxing the muscles at the base of the tongue. Usually when the tongue muscles relax, plus sleeping on the back, the tongue flops over the windpipe and blocks breathing. The weird part is, we can’t wake because for some reason the muscles not being used when sleeping are locked. But when I need to pee, I CAN WAKE.

What's the difference, anyone know?
