I take a copper glycinate supplement to stop the bleeding I would get in my eye. I don't know if it was in the retina, I would see it in the sclera. I take 2.5 mgs. daily, but some people may need a different dose.
Copper deficiency is associated with clotting dysregulation and even aneurysms.
There are studies that are showing that iron collects in the retina with, aging, low ceruloplasmin, etc. Excess iron in the eyes can cause oxidative stress and is implicated in macular degeneration. Copper regulates iron.
In AMD, zinc, copper, and selenium are recommended. I would say, watch that you don't take too much zinc, it will inhibit copper uptake.
