To Bill: Could you recommend a good detox protocol a person could follow with whatever supplements etc, amounts, time of day, w/wo food etc. I am wanting to start a detox program. Thank you (p.s) I am open to using any enemas as well.

Hi Cindy...Before you do any detoxing, I would first get a hair analysis. This will tell you what poisons you have in your own body in excess -- such as heavy metals, halogens etc. Thus armed, you can trim down and focus your detox regimen to specifically remove these poisons. And since the hair analysis also tells you the vitamins and minerals that you are also lacking, you can specifically add these to your regimen to improve overall health.

The best natural heavy metal detox supplements that you can take are chlorella or kelp and cilantro. You can also sprinkle a small handful of raw cilantro over salads three times a week to help yourself detox.

I tend to prefer kelp because it contains such a huge range of minerals, aminos and vits and also contains iodine. Kelp or bladderack also contains fucodian which is anti-cancer. Kelp powder is also much cheaper than chlorella.

I've already mentioned that the big advantage of using Chlorella or Kelp for heavy metal detox is because they both contain alginates. Alginates prevent the reabsorption and redistribution of heavy metals in the body because the alginate molecule is so huge. This is because alginates, when bound to heavy metals, cannot be re-absorbed back into the body from the colon or elsewhere which thereby promotes quicker and more complete riddance of heavy metals from the body.

I take the kelp powder -- 1/2 tspn a day blended into a drink. I use the organic Norwegian Atlantic Kelp that you can buy on ebay.com but any form of organic kelp or chlorella will do. Avoid buying kelp from the California coast because of possible radiation from Japan. You can also use the organic liquid extract of kelp if you prefer, in a drink or tea. Just to also mention that if you take kelp, the iodine in the kelp will also help to support thyroid as well as get rid of halogens(bromine and fluorine). Or you can simply use Lugol's Iodine or Iodoral at higher dosage(50 mgs/day) per day as recommended on EC.

If you also want to get rid of xenobiotics(other complex poisons not already covered above that your body does not recognize) then I would strongly advise taking either the Turpentine protocol or taking Milk Thistle(500 mgs twice a day at meals), Alpha Lipoic Acid(300 mgs twice a day) and Selenium(200 mcg twice a day at meals). This combination of nutrients acts to strongly protect the liver as well as remove xenobiotics. Xenobiotics are substances like synthetic pharma drugs, chemical food additives, fungal poisons, agri-poisons like glyphosates etc. Also consider that if you are going to detox your liver like this then taking any form of medicinal drug at the same time is definitely not recommended.

To help disinfect and clear your lower intestines -- the caecum/colon area -- then you should also consider enemas and/or colonic irrigation. There are many types of enemas that you can use -- such as coffee enemas, milk and salt enema, sodium bicarbonate enema, MMS enema, the turpentine with soap enema -- the list goes on and on. I'm not going to cover them all here -- you should be able to look them up on the internet. My own tendency would be to use the coffee enema for sure -- which acts to mainly detox poisons and strengthen the liver -- together with either the MMS enema or the turpentine with soap enema -- which specifically helps to remove biofilms and kill pathogens and parasites hiding in the lower intestines.

Lastly you can have a course of colonic irrigation to remove years of caked faeces stuck fast to the intestinal walls. After having colonic irrigation, people normally report having much enhanced energy, less skin/arthritic problems and greater all round health. Another way of doing this more cheaply is simply to drink a glass of water with 1/4 to 1/2 tsp sodium bicarbonate and then add a teaspoon to one tablespoon of psyllium husk. Drink one glass of this remedy outside mealtimes every day. It is the swelling and gentle scrapping action of the psyllium in solution in the intestines that dislodges caked faeces stuck on the intestinal walls. Psyllium also absorbs and helps to safely excrete poisons from the intestinal area. Colonic irrigation is certainly quicker and more expensive but you will only have to do it once a year. Using psyllium takes longer. Up to you.

You should be able buy most of the nutrients that I have recommended from sources such as ebay.com, pureformulas.com, 1stchineseherbs.com, mountainroseherbs.com or purebulk.com. For sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) -- Arm & Hammer or Bob's Red Mill brands are fine to use.

Always buy the powder or liquid extract nutrient forms(not the tablets) if you can because powders and extracts that are prepared organically always contain less chemical additives.

For more serious detox/elimination cases increasing Sodium Alginate will provide big support (that you won't get from kelp or other seaweeds. Amazon.com has some good sources).
