Questions on High Cholesterol and Hypothyroid

Posted By Mina (Cavan, Ireland) on 02/22/2012

I had subtotal thyroidectomy that left me hypothyroid for 5yrs now, I was on eltroxin but had lingering symptoms so I asked my doc to change to armour tab. I feel great with armour tab. I don't want to take tablets for the rest of my life so I will try everything that will help me regulate my thyroid back to normal function. My cholesterol is also its 6.1 that was after taking virgin coconut oil for less than a month. All my blood tests were normal except my cholesterol. As you know cholesterol can cause heart problems. Pls advise if I should continue taking vco. I came across to this website that vit c can reduce cholesterol but it did not it- left me with severe stomach pain.

Mina, you have probably taken too much Vit C, it will cause stomach pain and Diarhhea if you take too much. Spread your Vit C intake through the day to avoid the side effects. Your Cholesterol is fine, contrary to what we have all been told it is low Cholesterol that is associated with early death. Every Scientific Study either supports this or at worst shows no difference in death rates between high and low Cholesterol. Cholesterol is essential for the body and higher levels equal longer life, except for ridiculously high levels. My Cholesterol is still around 6 to 7 but my blood pressure is 120/80 with a resting pulse of about 60 or less.

If you are concerned, take Apple Cider Vinegar (2 tablespoons in water), Aloe Vera Juice (20ml) and Cayenne Pepper (1/4 teaspoon building to 1 teaspoon) daily. Also take as much Vitamin C as you can hold each day before getting Diarrhea.

BTW when I first started taking Cayenne it was a bit disconcerting, my heart raced and my blood pressure rocketed. Start small and build up, spread it through the day.

Hi Mina and Cameron..... Do either of you know how a level of 6.1 translates with regard to U.S. Numbers? For example, in the U.S. a total cholesterol reading of less than 200 is considered ideal.....
