Questions about Vinegar Treatment for Arthritis

Posted By Norma (Illinois) on 08/09/2015

I have arthritis and hurt mostly in my upper arms, both arms, so bad I can hardly get my shirt off and on. The rest of my body is just stiff feeling, but arms hurt! I have read here where ACV works with honey. Do you have to take the honey or is it just for the taste? Any suggestion would be welcomed also I have been reading about boron and borox, what do you all think?

Norma,

The honey is mostly for taste, though it does have great medicinal properties. But it may not be suitable for diabetics and it can be expensive. Certainly try it without if you like.

I would start with the Apple Cider Vinegar for a week or two and see how it does. Meanwhile, read the pages about boron and borax to decide if you want to try them. That way, you will be able to see what helps and if anything bothers you. Adding everything at once would make that difficult. Look into Turmeric while you are at it. It is amazing for pain and inflammation!

Please do drink plenty of water. Apple Cider Vinegar topically may be helpful, too.

Please just focus on cleaning up your diet: NO sugar, NO processed foods, NO white foods (flour, rice, etc.). Eat only organic fresh vegetables (LOTS of them and all the colors of the rainbow! ) and some fruit (not a lot of fruit), and eating good-quality protein (wild-caught salmon, antibiotic-free chicken, etc.).

Also, make a smoothie with unsweetened apple juice or dairy-free milk (almond, hemp, etc.), a tablespoon of ground turmeric with a 1/2 avocado, a 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (the red pepper). Get creative with how you make your smoothies to make them really tasty. There are tons of recipes online; just Google them. Drink at least 1 of these smoothies each and every day. Along with cleaning up your diet, your arthritis should get less and less painful.

When I stick to clean eating and drinking these turmeric smoothies, my osteoarthritis is practically non-existent!

Hello Norma.

There is plenty of advice on this site re. ACV and honey treatments so I won't repeat that here. My secret for my one-time shoulder injury was as follows. It only took a week to have the pain really reduce! My physiotherapist gave me a sort of stretchy cloth (poly/nylon whatever?) maybe two or three feet long? and told me to do the following three or four times a day and the whole thing took only a few minutes each time!

Tie or loop one end over a door knob (with the door open) and hold on to the other end with the hand on the injured side. Face the line of the door so your body is at 90 degrees to the line of the door. Have the cloth out so as it is slightly tensioned and you are holding your arm out at a 45 degree angle to your body and pointing at the floor.

Gently and SLOWLY pull until your arm is straight down the side of your leg five times (say). Keep your feet in the same position whilst doing this. Now turn your feet 90 degrees and do the same thing. Then another 90 degrees and finally the last 90 degree position so that you have covered all quadrants and have done the pulling twenty times altogether (5+5+5+5 = 20). Do it so that your arm finishes straight up and down each time (important). You can work out how to gradually increase the tension as your arm gets stronger but don't overdo it or it will be self defeating.

It would be good to know how you get on and if this exercise is right for you. As I say, give it a week before you quit unless it causes you grief and mischief.
