Prozac Not Helping Depression, Looking for Natural Alternatives

Posted By Gracie (Nottingham) on 02/11/2021

My granddaughter, who is 22 years of age, suffers from depression, and has been on Prozac for the last two years. She works part-time and is also studying for a law degree. She is a social animal and has lots of friends, but underneath all this she gets very low, and the other day took an overdose of the Prozac.

She has done this on a couple of previous occasions, because she felt so low, so it appears the Prozac is not working.

I'm no authority on this, but understand that it's about balancing the body chemistry, but how does one achieve this? Are there any natural products she can take?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions, because as a family we are all worried about her.

Many thanks.

Please have her try some other SSRIs. Prozac is the lowest, most generic for depression. She may need something with norepinephrine in it, or something else. There are many choices. Celexa, Cymbalta – there's lots out there. Brain chemistry is different for everyone. Once you find the right one, it's a life changer.
