Natural Remedies for Chronic Back and Leg Pain Needed

Posted By Eileen (Sumter, Sc) on 12/03/2017

I have had chronic low (sacroiliac) back pain for approximately 18 months. It has spread to my pelvic bones, pubic bone and down back and front of legs. Dr says I have 6 bulging disc . The pain feels as if someone is scraping long fingernails down my thighs and calves. This is 24/7 pain. NSAIDs have no effect on it. Was prescribed Tofranil which I am reluctant to take as it is antidepressant. I am considered non compliant when it comes to prescription meds.

I have tried msm, turmeric, glucosamine. Have ordered Cordyceps to try next. I am a 69 yr old female and have always been active doing manual labor. Did a lot of construction work this summer.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would be trying castor oil packs on the lower back. And Epsom salt baths if a bath is comfortable for you.

Some seem to find borax helps with joint problems.

I wonder if a physical therapist could help you get some gentle exercises that would help strengthen muscles that support the back to reduce the stress to the discs?

Also, rest for the back as much as you can.

I hope you feel better soon!

I take 2 capsules of turmeric twice daily with a sprinkle of black pepper in about a teaspoon of coconut oil to assimilate the turmeric better. It really helps my lower back pain.
