Low and mid back pain after accident

Posted By Vikram (Nashik) on 12/01/2013

Dear all,

I have problems with my back. About a year ago, I met an accident and broke my tailbone (coccyx) and I was treated conservatively with a rest period of 1 month and was made to sit on air cushion. It was relieved for the period of rest only, but when I resumed by work again it started to pain. The pain is so intense that I cannot sit for more than 5 hours, but my job requires 10 hours sitting, please help me to relieve my pain.

Dear Vikram,

Sorry to hear about your continued pain and the difficulty it is causing even at work.

At sporting goods stores (or online) you can buy a "large exercise ball." I have read about many people using these instead of a desk chair when they experience pain while sitting. My children have one to play with and it is very comfortable to sit on.

The herb comfrey is good for healing. One of its names is "knitbone." It even helps to heal old injuries. You can use the leaves to make a tea and drink a couple of cups of the tea a day. You can take comfrey root capsules. You can use the leaves to make a poultice to put on the pained area. (Pour some hot water over the leaves and put the wet mash of leaves into a cloth or paper towel and place over the pained area for a half an hour or so each night.)

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar can be used topically and/or internally to help with pain and inflammation. (1 T. in 8 ounces of water twice a day) or massage the vinegar straight into the area.

Castor Oil can be massaged into the pained area.

Peppermint essential oil massaged into the skin as it also helpful for pain.

You could try any or all of these things. The topical things can be done once or twice a day or as needed. You could take the castor oil to work and apply mid-day. Just try different things until you find the one that helps you.

It is also helpful to avoid processed food and processed sugar and be sure to drink plenty of pure water or herbal tea.

I hope you find relief soon. Be sure to let us know what helps you.

In the past, before I knew I had Rheumathroid Arthritis, my tailbone would hurt. I would have to sit with a cushion. I finally figured out I had RA after many years. Once I realized that, I took Borax. It takes about 3 weeks to work to get RA under control. You may have an arthritis. I'd also take some high absorbable hyaluronic acid like biocell to replenish the synovial fluid in spinal column just in case you have deficiency.

Hi Vikram – I've recently hurt my back as well. There are a few things you can try, it depends on the injury. Magnesium and coconut oil worked for back spasms I was having, along with a lot of specific stretches for the area in question. Last week I injured my sacroiliac joint. Chiropractor made an adjustment (one left was shorter than the other) and that helped a lot, but the dull pain continued. I decided to try the Vitamin C flooding method I had read on here, and the pain was gone in two days. This was after doing the ice/rest/stretches thing for three days prior with no improvement. I take 1000 mg every couple of hours. I take Liposomal Vitamin C, liquid, mix with water and gulp it down every few hours. I started this on Friday night, by Sunday afternoon the pain was GONE. Look at the "doctor yourself" website (google it) and on the left side under articles go to back problems and look at the testimonial at the bottom of the page.
