Is 5 hours of sleep enough

Hi, I'm exercising everyday 2-3 miles, recently I have changed my diet so its much healthier. I'm getting to sleep about 1am and then I awaken fresh at 6, but I would like to get at least 8 hours sleep for health benefits. Is 5 hours sleep really enough? And if anyone can give advice it would be great. Thanks

According to this interesting piece of research you might want to have a look at, 5 hours is too little and 8 hours too much. The optimum seems to be somewhere between 6 and 7 hours of sleep.
