Husband With Irregular Heart Rate (Getting Too Low) From Steroids

Posted By Gert (Hg, Al) on 05/20/2018

My husband has copd. His dr put him on 10 mg prednisone to 'make him feel better' and I think he probably needs it but maybe not that high a dose. His heart rate goes from 96 to 45 in seconds and then back again, often--maybe this should be called an irregular heartbeat? Normal for him is 85 up to 110. Is there anything we can do to get it to stay more regular? This bouncing around is making him feel worse. He's supposed to take 10 mg/day for 2 weeks then 5 mg/day going forward. Should I take him to see the heart dr? I feel like the dr just heard him say he's not feeling great and said, oh take this.
