How To Dissolve Stitches That Have Been There For Months?

Hey Team Earthclinic,

I had a huge cyst removed off my back in February 2020. Doctor has been a surgeon for ever in our area. I let him do it in his office to save money. It was infected and has to be left open and packed with galls for about 10 days. He put 4 stitches in and when I went back the nurse told me to just keep it clean and that I could just get down to smaller bandages and was told there was no need to come back unless I felt something like a BB in my back.The doctor was out of town that day. But neither of them had ever said anything about coming back to get the stitches out.

So to make a long story short I can feel one of the stitches barely coming up out of the skin. But called the doctor and he wanted me to come back in. He offered to numb it up and go in and get the stitch out but said if wasn't bother me it didn't bother him. After some research seems he stitched me up but not with dissolvable stitches mine are blue in color.
My issue is they don't hurt or anything but I don't want him cutting me back up to get them out only one is still slightly above the skin remember there was 4 total.

Is there anything I can do besides the knife to get these to dissolve? Or if they haven't caused me any problems after this long of a period should I just not worry about it unless it causes me problems.

Dear Cpn,

You could try bentonite clay. You mix the powder with water to reconstitute the clay. Apply it thickly (a few millimeters) and cover with a waterproof bandage. Use overnight. It could take time (even doing this nightly for a couple of weeks) but it may draw it to the surface. It would be an inexpensive and simple thing to try!

That's a puzzle, isn't it? If it's closed and healed and "good to go" and the stitches aren't changing color, I'd shower, make up epsom salt paste, apply a blob to the area over the stitches and put a waterproof bandage on it for a day and see if it shifts them.

Epsom salt paste is just epsom salt with enough water to make a paste. It can draw out just about any foreign thing, right through the skin.

Some dissolvable stitches are blue so I'm not sure what you mean by that. If they're dissolvable and you can see any of them, you'll notice them changing colors if they're dissolvable.
