Suddenly a High Blood Pressure Reading, Why?Posted By Lauren (Queens) on 09/14/2020
How are you amazing people doing? Hopefully well despite the craziness going on in our world today. Just writing because I have a concern that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I recently noticed that my blood pressure is quite elevated in the morning(130/82) which is quite troubling to me since I never had this problem before. During the day, although I would not eat anything for hours if I'm busy, and I do a quick test, it would still be high like around 140/80 mostly. I'm very concerned especially since I'm older (56) because I know the dangers of high blood pressure too well. I'm also hypothyroid so I'm not sure if that's a contributing factor. Any answers to my query would be greatly appreciated.

Set the timer on your phone to go off every couple of hours during waking hours and every time it goes off, stop whatever you're doing and drink 250 ml (one cup or roughly 10 full-sized swallows) of plain water. No "sipping" or sucking on a water bottle for 2 hours but actual drinking. As if you're at the only watering hole for miles and a predator could jump out of the bushes at any time. In other words, do it consciously - as if it's the only thing that matters and worth risking your life for, in that moment, because it is.
