High Blood Pressure after starting Hydroxychloroquine for Lupus

I was diagnosed with Lupus in December 2023. at the age of 50 The trigger for lupus was 3rd Covid booster shot. After starting HCQ 300mg / day my Blood Pressure went over the roof - in the range of 190/130. After being on HCQ 300mg for 5 months now my dosage has been reduced to 200 mg /day but my BP still continues to be elevated.

I have been put on different medications but the BP hasn't come yet to the normal range. Right now I am taking Amlodipine 5mg and Losartan 50mg and my numbers are still high. I have started Carditone along with the above BP meds couple weeks back and am waiting for the numbers to get down to normal. Right now they are all over the place from 150/90 to 135/80.

I have also been taking Vitamin D3, Magnesium, Biotin, Fish Oil, Chlorella, B-Complex, Multi-vitamin since Dec 2023. I used to take B12 but the blood test showed very high levels of B12 so stopped it.

I am thinking of asking my Rheumatologist to stop HCQ and do the bloodwork in about 3-6 months to see if the numbers elevate or stay the same.

Looking for advice on any other natural remedies for lupus and high BP.

Hi

My blood pressure was excellent for years, then with advancing years it has risen and recently I've been getting readings of around 160/80. I did try Carditone and it worked well for a short while then stopped. I increased the dose to two tablets a day, but it still wasn't successful, and it's expensive!

Just two days ago I tried taking 1/2 teaspoonful of cream of tartar, and within hours it had dropped to 108/68, which I thought was too low, so this morning took a 1/4 teaspoonful and my reading was 126/68, which I thought was more acceptable.

I have read that taking one teaspoonful in a glass of water daily is said to be very safe. And, of course, it is used all the time for baking purposes.

It's worth a try. None of us want to experience a stroke, and, of course, it's not expensive and easily obtainable from a local store.

I hope this works for you. Best of luck!

Thank you Gracie. I will try the cream of tartar and report back.
