Help requested for acid reflux candida respiratory problems and insomniaPosted By Mary (Edmonton Alberta) on 11/19/2013
I have major acid reflux that began with what I am sure was Candida, it was very noticeable on my tongue. It has now developed into bronchial issues from the acid flowing ino my lungs so I am on an inhaler. I was given a PPT ( proton pump inhibitor yesterday. I lookedup the side effects & I am certainly not going that route.
My main complaints are:
1. Silent reflux that keeps me awake at night
2. Constant, horrible wet cough that ends up restricting my airway so that I have to use the ventilator.
3. Underlying Candida issue that started this whole mess.
I am 55 yrs old. Have always lived & ate well (organically) until I had insomnia for about 10 yrs which created a dependence on sugar and ultimately created the Candida. I still have the insomnia as well. I have my apple cider vinegar, baking soda and 20 team mule borax as well as extra virgin coconut oil sitting on my counter as I suspect these will be the answer to all my issues but after reading a lot of your site for numerous hours I don't know exactly what to take, how much and when? I am very tall and weigh 175 lbs.
Thank you all so much for this site!!!

I will pass along a few ideas to get you started with what you have on hand to promote your healing. Some posters here are better than I at the big picture and may have some more comprehensive ideas for you. But you can definitely get started with what you have and see how it goes and make changes as you go along until you are feeling well again. The thing about dosages is, that there are usually not hard and fast rules. With my own family, I start with one thing and increase or decrease amounts and frequency of dosage depending on how the person feels.
For the borax, Ted recommends 1/4 teaspoon in a liter of water daily for women. For men, it is 1/2 teaspoon per liter. You mention that you are very tall and 175 pounds. You may do well with the 1/2 teaspoon. Or your could try 3/8 teaspoon. This you can sip throughout the day.
For your Apple Cider Vinegar, try 1 Tablespoon in 6-8 ounces of water morning and evening.
For your coconut oil, start with 1 teaspoon three times a day and work up to 3 Tablespoons three times a day. You can take it plain or put it on toast, or put it in a fruit smoothie or whatever.
My family has not used baking soda much internally. Perhaps someone else will have a thought on that. Some people do use Apple Cider Vinegar and baking soda together.
You might try starting with one of the above and adding something else every few days to make sure nothing disagrees with you.
For your cough, you might consider trying Bill's Hydrogen Peroxide inhalation therapy. Mullein Leaf Tea would also be good to try for the cough. It is also important to avoid dairy with any cough, as you probably know.
An Epsom Salt bath (1 cup per tub) at night might help some with the sleeping. Adding a couple of drops of eucalyptus essential oil, or lavender essential oil or both may help with the sleep and cough.
I am assuming you are working on reducing the sugar consumption and trying to eat well.
Please let us know what you try and what helps. I hope you feel better soon!

I thought I should clarify this...I do agree with Mike that natural sugar is healthy. When I said that I assumed that you were reducing sugar, I meant the processed kind. I think natural sugar (honey, fruit, etc.), is good for you.

Acidosis requires alkalinity but candida requires acidity so I am not sure of the order of what to do and how to do it? I can afford to purchase anything else need but I cannot afford to see another doctor because they are killing me.
Thank you so much for the amounts, mama to many, & I will keep them on my list of things to do.
Does anyone know what order and amounts I should be doing for acidosis/yeast (silent reflux/candida)?
I am testing with PH strips. Fresh lemon and water create instant alkalinity. It is higher than what is on the strips (in case this may help anyone else) but it is short lived. If you would like to do this yourself use about 4 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice in about 8 oz of water. I use Xylitol sugar to sweeten as it is antibacterial.
I have tried baking soda in water but I can't seem to get the PH up enough.
I tried extra virgin coconut oil since I use it a lot anyway. It made the horrific brown phlegm I have been coughing up clear and frothy but It was still very thick & mucousy. It gave me extreme diarrhea for a couple of days so I discontinued the EVCO.
Help? Any scientists out there that know what the order of care should be and what I should use and in what amounts? So sorry to hear about Ted too. Can we help him in any way?

Acid Reflux
It's well known that stomach digestion needs an acid medium whereas main stage duodenal digestion(in the upper intestines) needs an alkaline to neutral medium for healhty digestion.
Initially, food digestion occurs in the stomach where pepsin is needed to initiate protein digestion, where correct syomach acidity kills pathogens incoming with the food and where the stomach muscles help to churn and break up the food for better digestion. After a short period a hormone called secretin is secreted when stomach acidity as at the correct pH acid levels. This hormone -- secretin -- acts to trigger second stage digestion so that duodenal digestion or main stage digestion can occur.
The problem you therefore have is too little stomach acid, So your decision not to take PPIs was a very wise one indeed -- because PPIs massively reduce stomach acidity so that duodenal digestion is not triggered by secretin and so main stage digestion, where proteins, carbohydrates, fats and sugars are all broken down by specific pancreatic enzymes for absorption into the body, simply does not occur. Instead the food just sits there in the duodenum stagnating, rotting and fast-breeding pathogens in the intestines creating many problems. What you therefore need to do is increase your stomach acid back to normal concentratons which is perhaps the core reason for your reflux problems.
The way to remedy this problem is to supplement pancreatic enzymes (that also contain papain and bromelain), betaine hydrochloride and sodium bicarbonate at every meal.
Take the betaine hydrochloride and pancreatin or pancreatic enzymes with every meal as advised on the labels. You should also supplement sodium bicarbonate or Baking Soda(Arm & Hammer is OK to use) an hour after every meal. The dosage is 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per dose. The pancreatic enzymes ensure proper food digestion and the betaine hydrochloride supplies the necessary chloride to the stomach to help heal and regenerate proper amounts of hydrochloric acid or gastric acid. And the sodium bicarbonate -- always taken an hour after eating meals -- acts to assure the proper alkaline to neutral medium in the duodenum so that proper main stage digestion and absorption can occur. It's also beneficial to take baking soda with water one hour before you go to bed -- this will reduce the acidity and therefore will help to reduce and eliminate the nocturnal reflux. Eating smaller meals in the evening would also help with both your reflux and insomnia issues.
Candida
As to a remedy for your candida problems, I have recently updated my anti-candida protocol -- please see this link.
Wet Cough
Concerning your problems with phlegm, the candida protocol that I have advised uses lugol's iodine and sea salt, both of which should help to reduce wet coughs and phlegm. If this does not work well then you should perhaps use Bill Munroe's Hydrogen Peroxide method using a fine spray inhaler. See this link.

I am not sure I am ready to take turpentine internally. Biologically the link you sent makes perfect sense but my cognitive functioning has been severely impaired to the point that I was taking external glutathione internally & did not realize for 3 wks so I will leave turpentine & MB for my last resorts.
I will gladly do the rest of your protocol as it makes perfect sense. Some rainforest herbs that may be beneficial that you may want to look up are:
A great site for info is:
http://www.rain-tree.com/sangre.htm#.Uo90vRB5mSM
I have been using the Sangre De Grado with much success because my sugar cravings are waning which means it must be effecting the Candida. I am ordering the Anamu & Brazilian Pepper Tree next.
I cannot thank you enough for such obviously knowledgable and sound advice!!!

First, you should always, always take the normal iodine companion nutrients whenever you supplement lugol's iodine to avoid the healing crisis and other problems that can occur whenever you supplement lugol's iodine. These companion nutrients are also contained within the anti-candida protocols that you are now taking.
If you don't wish to use the turpentine protocol then you could instead use nattokinase or serrapeptase(or bromelain and papain) outside mealtimes. These protease enzymes also work to digest and remove hardened and mature biofilms in the intestines which can certainly hinder and slow your path to a cure.
I would also approve of the use of any herbs purchased from the Raintree Nutrition website(especially the Brazilian Peppertree herb). I know this site very well. Leslie Taylor, the owner of this website cured herself of leukemia(AML) by just using herbs from the Amazon rainforest in South America. As a result of her amazing cure she then set up the Raintree Nutrition website for organic herb sales via sustainable farming and also started the now-famous Rainforest Database which I still use today as a reference.
What's more, I bought her book "The Healing Power of Herbs -- Rainforest Herbs" which is a very detailed and thorough book that describes everything you need to know about how to use and prepare these tropical herbs. Indeed it is a tomb of a book as you can imagine and good value This book is what first helped me so much in teaching me how to grow and prepare these herbs for use from my own tropical garden in the Philippines.
So you can imagine how saddened and devastated I was when I learned that the Raintree Nutrition herb sales website had to shutdown mainly due prosecutions by the US FDA. Here is the last letter from Raintree and Leslie Taylor in 2012 detailing the reasons for the herb sales shutdown at Raintree Nutrition. Although they are still selling herbs now -- Raintree have not been renewing their stock of herbs because of all their current problems.

Thanks for the tip! I have some serrapeptase on hand so I will try that today. I have been doing great since adding the Lugol's to my protocol. I also have Leslie's book which I initially bought because I think that people who have used cures natural to their part of the planet have for so much longer than the pharmaceutical companies have been around probably have some sage advice to offer us.
Thank you so much for still thinking of me, Bill. You are obviously a very kind man who likes to help.
