Headache While Sleeping

Posted By Alexis (Salem, Or USA) on 07/29/2012

For the past three nights I have had a headache only while sleeping. It is quite a severe all over headache that awakens me. I am not able to go back to sleep much. Once I am up and around in the morning it goes away slowly. I am a 59 year old female. The only medication I take is a diuretic in the am. that I have taken for more than 20 years. My blood pressure is good. Last night I took two Ibuprofen in the middle of the night and it did help but it did not make it go away. That is all I have tried so far. Any suggestions/ ideas/remedies would be appreciated.

I've noticed this about my own headaches at night. They usually occur, at least for me, if I've overeaten at dinner, and/or have eaten anything containing gluten, and/or have eaten anything containing sugar. When I eat very lightly (and have my larger meal for lunch), and do NOT eat sugar/gluten/processed foods, I never get a headache, and sleep like a baby.
