Hi Ted. A few years back I started drinking more than I should, vodka. After a time I turned my life around and stopped drinking but the effects I have been living with for around 4 years now. I never had an issue with my tongue before but now everything I eat or drink sticks to my tongue and lingers for days. I also smoke so this causes a terrible taste to linger in my mouth. I used to smoke before drinking and never had an issue with bad breath or a bad taste in my mouth, but since I stopped drinking the problems have started. I have been to the dentist and all they say is that it is bacteria, I have tried all known ailments to help but none do, I would love to get this terrible taste from my mouth and can not help thinking all the drinking has damaged my tongue but no one will seem to listen to me. Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Thanks

Squire, have you tried oil-pulling? Or chewing on a sprig of parsley a few times a day?Replied by Daniell (Ocean Shores, Wa) on 02/18/2013
Hi, I stopped using regular toothpaste a few months ago and now use a combo of Hydrogen peroxide and dial soap, with salt baking soda and cayenne pepper to remove plaque. Maybe this will help get rid of the bad taste, since the soap and Hydrogen Peroxide are anti-bacterial.
