Father who may lose his vision soon

Posted By Mama (London, Ontario) on 08/06/2010

HELP!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!! My Dad has just been told that at ANY GIVEN MOMENT HE WILL LOSE HIS SIGHT!!! They say he has cholesterol build up in the arteries behind his eyes, and will go blind as soon as it completely fills the arteries!! Which they say might be any day now. He's very worried. He doesn't want to take any drugs, just a natural approach, but the doctor said it won't do any good. WHAT CAN HE DO TO REMOVE THE CHOLESTEROL FROM HIS EYES AND FAST????

Answer to Mama from London, I had the feeling that for such case MSM would help, because I very recently read about MSM. Until I find more info on it here is what I found.

From http://www.naturodoc.com/library/medsmats/msm/MSM_background.htm
"MSM softens leathery eye membranes, allowing nutrients to penetrate. It removes waste particle buildup (cataracts) and inside eye pressure (glaucoma), improves vision, muscle tone, red spots, damaged blood vessels for contact lens wearers (with MSM Eye Drops), and removes floaters. "

There is also MSM eye drops products that can be found or home made. See this for some info on the MSM eye drops http://www.communicationagents.com/chris/2003/09/03/cataract_msm_eye_drop_solution.htm

Remember, MSM act synergistically with Vitamin C. It is recommended to start with slow dosages and increase gradually because of its detoxing effects. But a lot can be taken. Don't buy capsules, buy it in powder/crystal.

I would also strongly suggest to consider alkalising formulas because ask yourself, what would cause the body to build-up plaques in the arteries? It is a defense mechanism against acidity. So you see, there is hope! So good luck. Alain

Dear Mama, I have had an artery scan due to various health problems I have and was told my arteries are, most unusually completely clear of plaque or even the inflammation that preceeds the plaque build up. My doctors were more interested in this phenomenon than my current pituitary tumour! So here goes, this is my diet and has been for the last 25 years. VEGETARIAN, NO MEAT FISH OR EGGS. I do take milk, butter AND cheese however, so clearly these products are not the bad guys they are made out to be. I take every day, walnuts, olive oil and lemon juice on salads. I take some chillies too. Weekly, I add avocados, , beetroot, seeds, other kinds of nuts, except I don't eat peanuts. Obviously I eat mostly vegetables and fruits. I love Indian food, and hummous with pitta bread etc. I hope you try your father on this way of eating. Immediately stop fatty meat and get him to take olive oil, lemon juice and walnuts even if he can't change anything else! Good luck, and let us know if his arteries become unclogged. Michelle

Look into Pycnogenol and Resveratrol... Pycnogenol (bark extract) can help with micro-circulation to the eyes.. It is well researched & plenty of info. On the web & this on eye health & Resveratrol from Weil's blog...

There's a very unreported discovery on Dr. Wright's site! He says that 30 years ago, 2 opthalmologists found that a "tablet" worked for this exact thing. Some useful info if you decide to go this route:
SSKI= saturated solution potassium iodide. Comes in a bottle, and each DROP packs 25 mg KI, equal to 19 mg of iodide. May be available over the counter, or at a "compounding pharmacy". Quite cheap, but since not Rx, won't be covered by any plan. You could use the patented non-Rx IODORAL tablets, but each one is only 12. 5 mg total iodines (iodide and iodine), so you'd need 10 tablets to get the 120 mg roughly. That won't be cheap! Another route would be to use Lugols, and you can get the original 5% still in Canada no Rx or anything, but you have to ask in person at a pharmacy. They will get it in in a few days from their suppliers. It's one of those items they don't seem to want to publicize! 5% Lugols has 6. 25 mg total iodines/drop, so you'd need about 19 drops= 2 ml almost to get 120 mg iodines. But very cheap. A 100 ml bottle, about $11-$14, will thus last about 50 days. So 2 of these bottles would last 100 days, or just over 3 months which sounds about the length of the trials 30 years ago. Niacin is the straight pure "Vitamin B3". It is also called nicotinic acid, and is the one that can cause a "hot flush flash", harmless, for some minutes if dose of greater than 200 mg or so (adult) taken at a time. So the 15 mg daily that Dr. Wright mentions will not be of concern for that anyway. NOT the same action biochemically as niacinamide", another so-called B3, which has an amide group attached.

http://www.tahomaclinic.com/iodide.shtml
Over 30 years ago, two ophthalmologists observed that a combination tablet called "Iodo-niacin" (iodide 120 milligrams, niacin 15 milligrams) taken for several months could actually reverse atherosclerotic clogging of arteries. They proved this effect by taking pictures of clogged arteries in the backs of the eyes ("retinal photomicrographs") before and after treatment. The published photographs showed a significant lessening of the cholesterol-laden artery clogging in the "after" pictures. Amazingly enough, no follow-up study has ever been published (probably because niacin and iodide aren't patentable). Despite this, the published pictures speak clearly for themselves. I recommend 4 to 6 drops of SSKI and niacin-containing B-complex daily (along with many other things) for anyone with significant cholesterol-related atherosclerotic clogging. Thyroid function must be monitored!

Dear Mama,
I would like to support you with your concern about vision. Have you heard of the Bates method for vision? I saw a book by a guy named Quackenbush that details this method with lots of good testimonials (no exercises apparently). Also, I am looking into using 100% pure clay for this myself: covering my eyes with the clay (squeeze the eyes tight and then applying clay - one eye at a time for 30 min. Each side) as a healing for vision problems. Because I am new to post here I can't give you any websites but there are testimonials about vision being radically helped - I believe it is because metals/toxins are being removed. Please research as it looks good. Don't give up hope, prayer is everything!!! My best to you.

Gena, could you maybe give us the site where you saw the treatment with the clay? I am very myopic myself and I have a lot of books based on the Bates therapy including Bate's book itself. I have done a lot of exercises, not really got that much better and now I am trying to change a lot more in my life than only my eyes. I have also learned a lot of good habits which I try to focus on as often as I can but it is not easy as I am 53 so the bad habits are part of me but.... I do try! Right now things are not well because the retina in my left eye is detaching but I hope things will get better soon! Trying the clay might be an interesting idea!

I have found "all" of these topics informative. I believe God provided ALL we need for ailments. Man has just ignored it and introduced the so called "quick fix" remedies that we now find through various class action suits are actually harmful.

Now for my question; I am a 57 yr. Old female with Type 1 diabetes mellitis (since age 16). I have always been farsighted and need glasses that make my eyes look huge. I wear contacts and have since the 80's, now I need reading glasses. But more recently my last eye/contact lense fitting the Doctor told me that my eyes show damage resulting from UV rays and not wearing sunglasses when needed outdoors. He has not commented on any condition related to diabetes. But now I am experiencing needing even my reading glasses 2.50 just to be able to see. My eyes ALWAYS feel so strained and tired and puffy looking. Like I have been up all night. My contact Rx is R eye 6.00 1.25 x180 and L eye 7.50 -0.75 x180. In order to read I am finding I have to use a magnifying glass! I have NEVER had ANY Optomotrist or Opthamologist have problems either prescribing or fitting me properly for contacts as this guy has. I am also frequently rewetting my contacts, taking them out adding tear solution. This is HORRIBLE! Any ideas? Suggestions? I take B12, Ester C, Womens daily, Vitamin D and Mega Red along with Humulin N and R (2x) daily.

J:

There may be some natural or derived supplements you could try. You weren't specific on what your "damage from UV rays" means. Do you have dry AMD, or the start of cataracts? Or glaucoma?

Please check out first the general category here:

www.earthclinic.com/cures/eyes-vision.html

2 well known supplements for the eyes are eyebright and bilberry, both plants available in capsule form.

Bilberry seems to be able to stabilize the myopia in those with it, but there's no information on hyperopia.

www.bing.com/images/search?q=bilberry&go=&form=QBLH&scope=images&filt=all

Here is a good 2004 article on the main 3 yellow carotenoid pigments in the eye: lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin:

www.functionalingredientsmag.com/article/Ingredient-Focus/meso-zeaxanthin-a-cutting-edge-carotenoid.aspx

Meso-zeaxanthin as the article says, can be derived in the body from lutein, the commoner yellow pigment found in for example egg yolks, but apparently some people can't convert it. So it is extracted from marigolds and added in to a pill. It is found in puny microgram amounts.

A 4th newcomer, known to be able to cross the blood brain barrier, is called astaxanthin. It can be found now as a supplement too, usually in a 4mg capsule.

There is now for several years a eye drop nutrient containing 1% N-acetyl-carnosine which claims to help cataracts, but there's no clinical proof in yet for things like AMD. It's not cheap, about $40 for 2 tiny 5ml bottles, each with 60 drops. People who claim it helped or works say it takes 3-9 months of use daily once or twice to show gains.

www.bing.com/images/search?q=n acetyl carnosine&go=&form=QBLH&scope=images&filt=all

Here's a 1995 article up on one of Dr. Pauling's sites which had a study showing a divided dose of 10g daily of Vitamin C lowered ocular pressure:

www.orthomolecular.org/library/jom/1995/pdf/1995-v10n0304-p165.pdf

Finally, you may have to quit anything fried or deep fried in regular vegetable oils, since 2005 when this became known any high risk groups should beware the unfolding epidemic of AMD:

I started using BSM and Spirulina about 3 months ago. I went for a vision test a couple days ago as I do once a year. The optician seemed a bit boggled when writing my new prescription. I asked her what were the new numbers as I was curious. She said she was a bit confused but my vision has improved 2.75/2.00 to 1.25 in both eyes cant say if its the Spriulina or BSM or both but something is working.

Also must state that since around the 3 month period I started noticing my glasses getting blurry later finding out it was because the presciption became too powerful.

Pgf77, Would you please post how much of the Spirulina and BSM you used and what, if anything, you mixed them with?

Thanks a million for posting about this, I am so happy it helped you :-).

You may want to look into 10 juicing, (or up to a month if needed). It is supposed to be great for normalizing cholesterol levels and your health in general. Just make sure you use a pressure or masticating type juicer (less foam and break down of enzymes you are extracting, the high spin kind make it less nutritious). What to juice, there are lots of sites giving info on a 'basic' detox type of juicing.
