Eye floaters treatments for grandson

Posted By Jean (Callaway, Ne) on 01/17/2012

Does anybody have help for eye floaters? My grandson has had them so bad since he was 7 or 8 years old, he shakes his head from side to side to see. He is 21 now. Thanks Jean

Jean, I have eye floaters as well but not as bad as your grandson and I didn't start that young either! Are you sure that his retina is not detaching? I got a lot more when my retina started detaching! Be careful and have him go to the doctor!

That said.... Sadly enough I don't know any cure! There is an operation but the doctors are not keen to do it! I thought that if maybe I had my myopia operated they could correct that as well but floaters are much deeper than they go when they do the myopia operation. Too bad.... I have tried Milk Thistle and other supplements thinking that it had something to do with the liver but nothing helped! In my case they seem to come from a high myopia! Too bad no one finds a solution for it.... The only hope is the case of my best friend, who is almost 90 and one day a long time ago saw her floaters just disappear from a moment to the next! If they are outside of your field of vision then you don't see them!

In addition to Francisca's info. I've only come across one anecdotal report of pycnogenol helping with floaters. (on iherb) but another said it didn't help at all.. But the general protocol for eye supplements are.. Bilberry, Pycnogenol, Mixed Cartenoids with Astaxanthin, in addition perhaps Krill oil and Hyaluronic acid.. Unfortunately as Francisca says there doesn't seem to be anything definite yet to help with these.

Dear All. Floater these days can be treated with ND YAG LASER, it is safe and the doctors who are practiced can well do this procedure.. No worry.. Those doctors who have not learned this procedure says that it is not safe, because actually the general opthamologist cannot do it and need special practice. Therefore check in the internet and find out.

To Rob... After taking fish oil, the next day, I had eye floaters. Could it be the Krill oil that you are taking?

Hi, It was interesting to look at this thread because I can't really comment on Lorna's post but the other day I was with my Chinese herbalist and he was asking my young daughter questions to decide on the herbs she needed. One was about eye floaters. My husband then said he used to have them badly. Our Chinese herbalist said they were connected to the liver function.

My husband has been taking a blend of goji and schizandra and said that since he has been doing that daily, the floaters have been tremendously reduced. Goji is very high in antioxidants and excellent for the brain and eyes. Schizandra is known as the fruit that takes care of everything- it will purify the blood if used regularly, it builds the chi, the jing and the shen and helps open all the channels to all 12 meridians. Just thought I'd give this information. Both of these fruits protect the liver and strengthen the mind. Perhaps, this gives insight regarding this issue. Lisa
