Tyler, This is usually caused by liver disease due to blockage of blood flow to the liver by scar tissue or clot. If you have this liver issue, melatonin may be beneficial because it has anticlotting activity as well as antifibrotic activity, plus melatonin offers protective effects to the esophagus itself, especially if you use dissolve in the mouth lozenges.
