Detoxing After CT Scan With Isovue 370

Posted By D (South Carolina ) on 01/30/2024

My husband received a CT scan with the contrast agent Isovue 370 about a week ago. Is there anything my husband can take at this point to help with detoxing from the procedure? I am worried to try too many things my husband hasn't tried before all at once and don't know how these things interact either. I am concerned about thyroid health (there is research that the flooding of the body with the contrast agent can sometimes result in a thyroid issue within 6 months) and the cellular damage from the scan. He is also just completing a week of antibiotics.

I have on hand Gingko biloba drops (Mary Ruth Organics brand), lemon balm tea (I've seen this can involve the thyroid a lot, so not sure if that's going to be good prevention for a possible thyroid issue), activated charcoal, Quercitin (MR brand) and NAC (MR brand), ginseng drops (MR brand), vitamin D 5000IU, Smidge "Evening Magnesium", and some camu camu berry powder (advertises high vitamin C content). My husband is taking a probiotic (with saccharomyces boulardii), 1-2 tbsp lemon juice with his water, eating lots of blueberries, and limiting sugar while on the antibiotics. After the antibiotics, we'll probably do the Gingko biloba, vitamin D, and C as a minimum, but we are very open to including more since I've got the aforementioned supplies. Any tips?

Hi D

I have found that the best for detoxing is Melatonin, starting at 10mg nightly and increasing the dose by 10mg every 3rd day until you get to a comfort level. I did this for my CAT scan, and now I take 60mg nightly. Also, whenever taking an antibiotic, you should take a good pro-biotic for every antibiotic pill. This will keep your immune system strong.

God Bless,

Gary

Thank you! I did just find this article https://nwim.org/melatonin-why-less-is-more/ that seems to mention some risks to self-dosage—and at the supplement area today a woman said using melatonin can make your body make less of its own but to try tart cherry juice instead. Have you heard any of these things before? It’s made me a bit hesitant to try it now. Did you experience any of the side effects or had you done any sort of genetic testing prior to starting to know your body would cope okay?
